Members Carminemw
Iron Butterfly was considered one of the first heavy metal groups when they first put out their mammoth Ina-Gadda-Da-Vida 17 minute cut from the album with the same name. That classic song was also cut down to run as a single of 3 minutes or so to run on AM radio. What was the tune on the flip side of that single... Members coyote-1
IIRC, the song "Are You Happy" was on the album. Dunno if it's on the flip side of the single though. PS. Isn't it odd that the majority of original "heavy metal" groups - Butterfly, Steppenwolf, Deep Purple, etc - had keyboards, while what's considered metal today tends to abhor keys? Haha I know what you mean. Metal today is so different from older metal. Personally I prefer the older stuff.
Members Carminemw
Maybe the older stuff should be called "rusty metal"

Honest to God, I (We) would love to have a keyboard player. But you can't find a committed bass player from here and just found a singer. A good keyboard player can be bad as {censored} and can do so much to fill out a band. Deep Purple being one of the better examples IMO.

Members Carminemw
This was by far the hardest one that I have found. It took Mr. Keric once again to turn me onto the source for the answer. Most people did not realize IB made this into a single, much less the flip side. So that you all can file this in your memory banks, the flip side of the single of Ina-Gadda-Da-Vida was "The Iron Butterfly Theme" fro their first album "Heavy" Don't know what the producers were thinking because the Theme didn't make it well of the 1st album, so why try it again...maybe it was the only tune that would fit on a single...who knows, or better yet...who cares!
