Members Bitter Dawn
Sorry everyone, I have many so many questions and curiousities...even dumb ones. I found a few "What shoes do you wear?" threads, and I gather that boots are generally a big "No,no", but I was curious as to whether or not anyone actually had troubles wearing boots, or do well with them? Members cearleywine
If anything went past my ankles I wouldn't be comfortable. I actually have played with some sketchers boots in the past for school band. More power for the pedals but I remember feeling a little sloppy. I've heard of some metal guys really digging them. Recently heard that running shoes are the best for pedals because of the curve on the bottom. Most of the time I play in my socks, or small shoes if it's too cold. And there are never enought questions and curiousities.
Members Fr!tz
I used to wear wrestling shoes for a long time (mainly cuz the sole was thin) but I've become just as comfortable wearing vans or chuck taylors, but no boots my man
Members boomboomdrums
I have. I can play in almost anything. Barefoot or socks is my favorite, but I can do shoes and I can do boots. When I was in the Marines we played in combat boots (drum kit and otherwise). I've played in Cowboy boots too. Just so you know.
Members Carminemw
Guess who (who didn't know that!)? Yes at one time it was those ankle high zip up the side boots that I had to wear a part of a band uniform. They were all the rage...(don't laugh...ok maybe just a little)
Members Mickey66
I did in my 20's. Too old for that now.... i play bare footed
Members Bitter Dawn
I'm surprised, but pleasently so. Cowboy boots would be a challenge since they usually have a distinctive heel. I didn't think it was impossible to play in boots, just something that doesn't seem overly common since shoes offer more flexibility. I for one have been trying to play with 24 eyed boots lately, but gave my mid-calve/combat styled boots a try and found that I had a bit more freedom since they've been well broken in. Thanks for the replies guys.

Members Wellhungarian
I've worn cowboy boots and found it difficult to play comfortably, so I end up taking them off and playing in my socks.
Members mparsons
I wear boots and I find that it improves my kick drum ability. More power/weight/whatever.
Members 2xBass
I've tried it in shoes, but just does not seem as smooth as it does in socks. I've never tried boots, but I guess I'll give them a try today...
Members 9 stroke roll
I play bare footed or with socks as well. I did play with combat boots the very first time I was behind a kit, but I sucked then anyway so it didn't make a difference.

Members SyntheticTubs
I play with golf cleats on. Maybe that explains why my pedals don't last..
Members jenksdrummer
I play with golf cleats on. Maybe that explains why my pedals don't last.. I used to do socks-only, but then my socks started getting holes in the bottom, along with blisters on my feet. Tama logo on the pedal has some sharp edges! I play with boots, or running shoes, socks, barefoot - it doesn't matter. I do know that with added weight on the feet, translates to more boom out the front... I made sure to wear shows with my IC's. Tama should look into making a safer footboard. I *prefer* at least some low cut shoes. Maybe it's the extra weight and less slippage... Members Drumstix61
I used to wear wrestling shoes for a long time (mainly cuz the sole was thin) +1 Thin, flexible and grippy! Tried boots one gig.Not any problem, but they were very soft leather unlike a standard cowboy or combat/work boot. Socks = Pain.... Been having nice results with some Speedwells. Members Bootslrll
I prefer to play bare footed. Obviously, you can't walk around a bar in bare feet, so I play with Db drum shoes. They are thin soled and grippy so your feet don't slide around. I've never tried to play in boots, but even in tennis shoes I lose the feel of the pedal.
