Members slap happy drums
So I got a St. Paddy's day Party I'm playing today , and it's at a place where the teenage son is a drummer. We played last year , and his kit was pretty crappy , I had my kit w/ and used 90% my stuff......last year it was nice out and I was playing on my old Yamaha kit , this year it's pissin rain and cloudy and I've got my OCP.....I think I'm just bringing my SD and my seat , and I'm gonna just go for it w/ his kit...maybe I'll bring my cymbals too.... All right here's the kicker , a year has gone by and these drums may have been re-headed and sound OK , hell they might have gotten him new ones But also a year has gone by and maybe the heads that were all but swiss cheese last year could be so completely f%ck#d at this point that they make the angels cry when struck.....Got no contact # at this point........ It's cold and wet and I think I got to spin the Chamber Cue Deer Hunter music The big up side of asll of this is that the Brisket last year was as good as any Brisket I've ever seen , the lady of the house cooked it for days at low low heat , mmmmmmm good! Members k7mto
Weigh the ease of not having to haul/setup your own kit with the possiblity his kit will suck. I'm playing a gig tonight with a kit supplied by the club. I've played it before and while it's low end, they keep the heads in good shape. I plan to bring my own SD and a few cymbals. I'll probably bring my IC dbl pedal too. But, it'll still be nicer then tearing mine down for use. Enjoy your gig. I will mine!!!
Members Rudolf von Hagenwil
Mama mia, by the titel I thought you own a drumset made from a huge six-gun and play around with your life
Members controlledburn
At least make sure you have a drum key so's you can tune the heads as much as possible - and take your cymbals.
Members polarnewfie
Why dont you take a couple of toms and a snare with your cymbals. Leave them in your vehicle, and if its a washout regarding the kit on site, take in your items and use as needed. Just take 2 toms and a snare. You can always get by with a couple of drums. Even better yet, if you know the sizes of the drums, take a couple of batter heads in those sizes and swap them out before you play. Then take em home when you go. Members danrothmusic
at least take your cymbals also remember that you can swap batter and resonant heads (the resos are usually in better shape, for obvious reasons)
Members slap happy drums
Kit got reheaded days ago!!!!!!!!!I brought cymbals a few stands and my SD and it was great , I usually play a 4 piece so playing with a few xtra toms was loads of fun.
