Members Longfuse
I emailed him a couple of weeks ago via his website to ask a question and got a reply from his wife saying that he 'wasn't doing so well'. Didn't realise it was that serious. Sad news. One of the greats, that's for sure!
Members boomboomdrums
Sad news to say the least. Jimmy McGriff was a great jazz/blues organist. I have 2 CDs he plays on. One is with Gene Harris and Jimmy putting down some blues. Funky to say the least. The other is the Buddy Rich CD "Sweet Georgia Brown". This is a great small group effort with Buddy and Jimmy and Illinois Jacquet and a few other guys. I've enjoyed him for years. Very sad to see him go.
