Members Tichietech02
I'm using Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 through a Korg X5. I'm considering buying a drum machine. What value do drum machines bring to home recording in a midi type setup apart from preset drum patterns. Would you recommend using a stand alone drum machine as aposed to the drum sounds on the Korg X5? Any input is greatly appreciated. Richie. Members MattACaster
You're asking the wrong forum. We all know how to play drums so we don't need drum machines.

Members Longfuse
If you're just recording, and you have a MIDI setup, then I don't see the point of using a drum machine. If you have no idea how to construct a pattern, then fair enough - machines have presets - otherwise just buy a samples CD/use a rompler and key in your parts using MIDI. This drum program is excellent and the demo version (a cut-down kit, but fully functional) is pretty versatile: http://www.xlnaudio.com/
