I ordered this one:

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/SKB-SKBH4816W-Large-Stand-Case-with-Wheels-Strap?sku=544518

Called in, got it for $224 shipped, because I did a google search and found a better price ;)

So, it arrived today, I'm impressed. There are 3 straps inside, and they are have metal clasps that have "teeth" with a spring, so one could just grab the loose end and cinch it tight and not worry about it.

The shell looks solid, the aluminum frame has a rubber/foam gasket, so it's reasonably waterproof. The wheels are the same you'd find on rollerblades.

It's not light, at 23lbs, but, I'm sure this will more than handle the job of hauling hardware :)

But, I've not crammed my hardware in it yet - given my bag had a max dimension of 12x14x48 - this case should handle it with ease with room to spare, so during gigs I might shove a few mic stands in there or something.

I also ordered the SKB Cymbal Vault - the 22" one, it also seems solid, one side fits over the other, so it's not nearly as water-resistant as the hardware case, but if you lay it flat, it could get rained on without your cymbals getting wet. I've not loaded it up either, so I don't know what all I can fit into it, or if I need to get a second one for "total" protection ;)

I decided to go bags for the shells and cases for hardware and cymbals - the bags I got (Cadillac Sacks) - again, I need to shove the drums in them and make sure everything fits right - but, the padding is at least 2x as thick as the tuxedo bags I got for my M-Birch...

Speaking of M-birch, I'm thinking of selling it - sadly, I found that they are now selling for what I wanted to sell mine, dispite having paid more :(

So, I'm kinda stuck - on one hand I think I should keep my M-birch set (maybe for {censored} gigs?), on the other, why? LOL...

sweet deal. we have one of those cases at school and its about ten years old i think. the wheels fell off a year or two a go, the plastic around them busted, but it took constant abuse for years because it was our hardware case for jazz band, marching band, and concert band. youll get a lot more life out of it and even if not ten years is good!

also, let me know about the m-birch if you want to sell it, i may be interested.

On the M-Birch, where are you located? If you're close enough to Tulsa, OK, we can meet up somewhere. Also, I'd be selling it with the Tuxedo bags (they're good, just the Cadillac sacks are freaking awesome) ;)

Shipping is my biggest hesitation, to be honest. I may still have the boxes from my Saturn kit (same sizes), but I know the M-Birch boxes are toast (used them for cymbal cut-outs for placement ideas - lol)

As for the case - those have a lifetime warranty - send it in! :D

It's the "studio" kit - I paid $1100 for the kit when I got it, I'd like $700 for it now, but, at the same time, I've seen them going for $800 now. (MF blowout - thanks MF - lol)

8x8, 8x10, 9x12, 11x14, 13x16 mounted toms

5.5x14 snare

18x22 bass drum

I'd be including two cymbal stands (one straight, one boom - I may be selling more of boom stands, since the funds from this will be used to buy Tama stands, which replacement parts are easier for me to get (in particular the sleeves) (mapex dealer here is a ripoff, and the next closest is 3hrs away))

Mapex 550 HH Stand

750 bass drum pedal. (upgrade)

Humes and Berg Tuxedo Bags:

Large hardware bag (needs to be sent in for repair, broken clasp, stitching coming out - lifetime warranty, just got case to replace it so I'll send it in soon)

22" Cymbal bag (same deal, warranty covers it)

Bags for the shells (fitted sizes) - bass drum bag also needs some stitching work (warranty covers it)

I've also swapped out the stock (1.3mm) hoops for 2.3mm hoops (from drummaker.com)

It's a toss-up if I sell them. If someone hands me a wad of cash, and says they want them, I wouldn't be able to say no, but at the same time, I don't REALLY mind keeping them - I may join a 2nd band or I may do an open mic sometime...

sounds fair. ill see what i can do in the way of cash. let me know if you decide to sell them.

Probably better to take it from the other angle. Let me know when you have the funds available to pull the trigger.

I don't mean for that to sound as rude as that read - just that if you contact me in a month or two and have the money and everything lined up, I won't have to make that decision until them, so in a sense, the decision will be made for me, if that makes any sense at all - lol.

$700 including the bags is actually a steal - I paid $450 for the set of bags - lol.

I need to get off my ass and send those bags in that need repair though...I don't want to sell them with the kit, if I don't have them repaired/replaced.

I have no idea on what shipping will cost. If/When it comes time, I'll give you pictures...
