Members Skinman
I'm a young drummer and I still haven't found a practice routine that I like yet so somtimes I just don't practice. I like playing live and with other people but everyone in my band lives really far away so we don't practice togeter all of the time. Any tips? Members vinniewannabe
Do you want to get better? What do you want to get better at? If the answer to the first question is yes, then go to question #2. There are so many concepts to work on the drumset and there is a lot of depth to the instrument. There is much to learn. Figure out what you want to accomplish.
Members 1001gear
Work on the stuff that sucks. At your stage it's probably technical. Maybe shaky rhythm, weak foot, what ever the bill says. Pretend it's therapy. (it is) Go slow until you can play your level at a pro level. Smooth and balanced. This one's a given and you'll never be able to skip it. Members BroadST
Are you taking lessons? The way my routine works is I do some warm ups at first, lately with my feet since they are the place I suck the worst at. Then I go into whatever exercises my teacher and I have been going over. I like to be a total PITA and learn everything quickly and start moving ahead on my own. After that I work on a few songs I have been concentrating on then I also have a playlist on my ipod of songs I just generally like to play or want to learn so I will jump ahead to those. Not saying I have the perfect routine, its just what I usually do.
