Members grace_slick
Hey Today I feel tired and find I am not singing like I usually do. I've been singing along to various songs ranging from Patti Smith to Kate Bush for the last 2 hours, and thought the Kate ones would be fun and loosening for my voice, as usually I feel they're fairly easy for me to sing, despite being very high. So I was singing along, and I noticed it was SO difficult and tiring trying to sing these songs I normally find easy. My voice was cracking / breaking slightly (not in a hideous way, but just in a way that some people naturally sing/speak like, but is apparently not good), some of the higher notes were coming out silent until I pushed a little harder and got them out, and it actually feels like my throat itself is swollen. When I stick my tongue far out in an attempt to relax / loosen it, it feels like my entire throat is lumpy and sore. OH DEAR! lol What have I done? Members Jersey Jack
Swine flu? Seriously, I wouldn't jump to conclusions. A day off (or two, or even three on occasion) is a good thing. And I always experience an improvement when I return--most people do, it seems.

Members grace_slick
Meh, I was just wondering what it was. I think I was just really tired I guess. I hardly ever sleep well anymore these days. *sigh*
Members grace_slick
Well, it now seems I have not much of a speaking voice either. Not sure what’s going on here, cause I don’t feel sick. But when I talk now I sound all “flinty” and every now and then a word won’t come out (sound). Oh dear, DEARIE me. lol *mute*
Members WinosaurJR
Don't worry, I get days where I can't use my voice either, or I can't use it to it's usual potential. I come back a day or two later after resting and I could access my full range (sometimes it comes back improved in some way!) Just give it a few days, and if it's still making you uncomfortable, ask a loved one for their opinion and get it looked at.
Members grace_slick
Well, my whole throat and neck feel swollen now. It’s not exactly sore, but just feels lumpy and swollen and weird. When I talk sometimes my voice cuts out. This ain’t good, but I’m not singing for now and assuming it’ll fix itself at some stage. This doesn’t happen to me though, you see. I may have my vocal issues, but my voice physically is pretty much always consistent. Never cuts out, never really gets sore or tired, I never have major changes in my range or stuff…
