Yup, terminated after a year of working there. They didn't even blink. {censored} them. For the record, GC is an evil place, and i strongly encourage you all to shop locally. I don't feel like typing all the bad {censored} i can say right now, but i'll get to it later. Hooray for unemployment! Time to get drunk.

Hell, we knew that.

I'd love to know what their turnover rate is. You can go into the one near me and see different people working the departments all the time. And they must be new... because they don't know {censored}.

But yes... if you have any good GC dirt, spill it. We haven't had a good negative GC thread in a while.

So what happened? Downsizing? Failure to meet quota? Got caught messing around with the boss's girlfriend?

Tardiness is what the paper said, but that's not the real reason. I told off the boss, let him know that he's turning MY drum shop into a {censored}ing car lot with the idiot car salesmen he's hiring, and that he's the reason the last batch quit. I came to work at 9:02 (scheduled for 9), and got called into the office 3 hours later with my final check.

Every morning the opening crew gets together and has a sales huddle. They go over techniques on how to close deals...Hard close, Soft close, Direct close, Indirect close, etc. Keep in mind this is an INSTRUMENT store, not a Toyota dealership. They're trained to juice you for every penny they can, adding on PG's (which they get spiffs for if they sell a certain amount) that don't cover anything more than manufacturers defects (although they fail to mention that when they pitch them). There's a bunch of shady {censored}, i just can't fit all of it into words right now. They only see you as a dollar sign, a tit for the milking.

Yup. That'll do it every time. I've done my share of that, too. It's actually been only recently that I've discovered that it's easier just to say "yes, boss...no boss" knowing that he's a moron, than to try to 'change the status quo'. Oh well....drink some beers for me, and I'll drink some for you at the gig tonight.

The sun will rise tomorrow morning, just like it does every morning.

Sometimes, it's worth it. I once pulled off my shirt in the middle of the store, wadded it up, and threw it right in the manager's face. Dropped an F-bomb or two, and walked my happy ass outta there. Damn, it felt goooooood.

I also burned... nay, DEMOLISHED, EXPLODED, AND CONDEMNED my bridge with IBM. No shame at all. Sometimes you have to stand your ground, no matter how ugly the truth is.

I suggest you visit a strip-club. It'll help take your mind off of it.

Sounds like they were gunning for you anyways, and were just waiting for you to do something that they could hold against you.

After a year at GC he was probably higher up the pay scale than they wanted anyone to be. Why not hire some guy who doesn't know squat about drums, for less?

sorry bro, but from someone who has recently removed themself from retail (starbucks... yet another evil corporation. working for that place sucked ass) consider yourself lucky with opportunity. you can search for something you have a true passion for. but that can all come next week, for now, roast a fatty, throw on your favorite tunes, crack open a cold one and enjoy life

Do you live with your parents, or alone? I am 18, and live at home, so when quit my old job, (pharmacy tech) all it effected was me having to accumulate gear at a slower rate than usual.

I'm only 19, but I live with my mom and pay her $600 a month in rent. So long term unemployment isn't an option.

Sorry to hear your out of work. Not sorry to hear you no longer work for corporate idiots and nimrods.

As everybody said, enjoy some time off and look for another one in a few days. Maybe there's a Mom and Pop music shop locally????
