Members Rogers77
Does anyone know what brand of snare drum or snare setup JoJo Mayer is using on his 'Secrets Weapons' dvd? I was told he is using the Sabian 'Quiet Tone' rubber disks. It sure doesnt look like a rubber disk on the dvd though. It looks like an additional snare head & hoop attached to the original top snare hoop. (That may be hard to visualize without seeing it on the dvd) Anyone know? Thanks in advance for any replys......KA
Members D Carroll
He uses all sonor. In the studio, it might be a different story, but live, it is sonor.

Members devinw
Yeah I saw that thing too and was like "WTF". It's literally as you described though. It seems to be a secondary tentioned head and hoop sitting about 1" above a regular snare. I am curious too.

Members Just Drums
Good call. I bet they made it for him... Nope. This pad has been around for close to 20 years. Possibly longer. It's a Sabian Pad called a Quiet Tone and/or Drum Mute. http://www.justdrumsonline.com/store/pc-499-79-sabian-drum-mute-practice-pad-14.aspx (ahem - we're a little cheaper than MF!) Greatest pad on the planet. All Jojo did was replace the head with a black head...possibly kevlar to match his drum and his clothes for the vid. I've got a old rough video featuring this pad. I plan on redoing this video real soom to show off several of my fav pads. But here it is none the less. Hope this helps! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibrQXqqO1MM

Members Rogers77
Yep....thats what I learned. A Sabian 'Quiet Tone' practice pad. But dont go to the Sabian website to try to view one; at least on my computer the image was not available. There are other sites on the web to view one.
