Members Carminemw
Ever since I posted the "Double Six" lesson and the tracks I recorded on the 16th of August, I have been fielding questions about my kit. Just to eliminate some confusion, I am posting this photo with the info included. I thought this might be a more complete way of getting the info out to all who have asked. I also captured samples of my cymbal rig with my laptop so please excuse the crudeness. And just for the record, I did not use my kit on the recordings on the 16th. I DID use my snare drum, the PDP 5x14 which I think recorded really pretty well, and I used all of my cymbals as well. The remaining drums recorded were all 1968 Ludwigs (Black Oyster Pearl)...2-9"x13" rack toms, a 16"x16" floor tom, and a 14"x22" kick drum. All were processed and manipulated pretty heavily. Thanks for all the questions...hope this helps... By the way...just to let you know...I'm in Heaven with this setup. I wouldn't trade this kit for anything...quite possibly the rig I've always wanted (minus a few doodads of course...splashes,blocks..tinklers and effects). Just try to pass THOSE along to the wife now...that ain't gonna fly for a while...
Members D Carroll
Nice drum kit! looks great with the extra floor tom... {insert left hand joke here.}
Members sunspot
Very nice work Carmine. I would suggest getting a hi hat stand with a swivel base. It's such a pain to have to work around the leg of the hi hat. I discovered that with the leg out of the mix, my whole setup changed a bit and I could really fine tune my double pedal location. Members BeakerArk
One wonders how many blue jays had to sacrifice themselves to make that spiffy wrap. . .my guess is more than a bushel, less than a silo.

It's such a pain to have to work around the leg of the hi hat. You're not justa whistlin Dixie there. I get my BD pedal right where I want it and the HH leg is in the way. I get both pedals where I want them, and the linkage to the main BD pedal doesn't reach....very frustrating.

Members Carminemw
Not to be confused with the "Tingler" That would be the Vincent Price model...
Members Carminemw
Wot's a tinkler? You know...sound effecty, metallic sounding, bells, chimes, bell tree, go go bells, brittle sounding...even blocks or something clanky. I love effects sound effects. I had a set of breake drums off and old VW Beetle that really sounded great.
