At least until I am not dead broke.

I go on there every once in a while just to see what sort of deals are out there (the same way some guys look at used car ads just to see what's out there) even though I had no intention (or capability) of buying. Then every once in a while, I see a deal that is so perfect for me in every goddamn way except for the fact that I can't afford it, despite the price. Today's instance was this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Gretsch-new-classic-3pc-Drum-set-Euro-Shell-Pack_W0QQitemZ120311732293QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item120311732293&_trkparms=72:1419|39:1|66:2|65:12|240:1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

I've been jerking off to the idea of eventually getting a solid Gretsch kit for some time now, and that one is absolutely perfect for me. Right sizes, right wood, right configuration... BUT I'M BROKE!!!!!

Anyone else have this problem? Are there support groups out there?

That's what she said.

Thomas, I'm sure there's help out there. But addicts are addicts and we fall off the wagon once in a while. Sometimes for a day, an hour, a month. Just when you think all is well in Thomas's world, you have $3,800.00 worth of drums setting in your living room, holding your hands while setting on the couch sobbing.

But, the pain only lasts a short time if you pick yourself up get back on your feet and "play that funky music white boy"..............

I feel for ya Thomas.... my wife sees me on eBay, and she begs me.."please don't buy anything", then she tells me "Don't buy anything", then she asks me " How are you going to pay for that?" I usually sign out theere and sign back in when she is not around., buy it and then a box shows up. I get the call from your "Another one of your @#$%%^$% boxes showed up today!!!!"

It has a clinical name, Gear Acquisition Syndrome (GAS). The guitar player in our band has it pretty bad.

the drummer in my house (me) has it pretty bad!

I don't need it, I'm not even sure I want it, but this is such a good price I'm considering it:

most definitely have GAS, and it, well, smells. picked up a 3 pc red sparkle japanese kit for no reason the other day, and now of course i need to buy all the hardware to piece the kit together for my son to play. the kicker? my son isn't even 2 yet... oh yeah, he needs drums.

Ebay and Craigslist spelled backwards is tislsgiarC dna yabE. That should tell you something right there.

Wow, that was deep.

GAS here too. My wife always says, "Why do you need another drum set?".

"Well honey, I have a birch one and a mahogany one but this one is beech and its a different sounding set and different sizes, understand?"

"No"

"Well honey, I'm the drummer, I know about these things, you just leave these decisions up to me."

"Whatever"

She's basically learned that if I really want something, its better just to let me have it.
