Members Thomas G
At least until I am not dead broke. I go on there every once in a while just to see what sort of deals are out there (the same way some guys look at used car ads just to see what's out there) even though I had no intention (or capability) of buying. Then every once in a while, I see a deal that is so perfect for me in every goddamn way except for the fact that I can't afford it, despite the price. Today's instance was this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Gretsch-new-classic-3pc-Drum-set-Euro-Shell-Pack_W0QQitemZ120311732293QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item120311732293&_trkparms=72:1419|39:1|66:2|65:12|240:1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 I've been jerking off to the idea of eventually getting a solid Gretsch kit for some time now, and that one is absolutely perfect for me. Right sizes, right wood, right configuration... BUT I'M BROKE!!!!! Anyone else have this problem? Are there support groups out there?
Members D Carroll
But it's an 18''x22''... With those tom sizes, a 16''x20'' will tune up damn nicely.
Members Thomas G
Yeah, but Gretsch doesn't make them that shallow anymore. The new Renown Mod configuration only comes with a 22x20 bass, which is bull{censored}. I can live with 18 inches.
Members D Carroll
They offer a 20" by 16". http://drums-percussion.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gretsch-Drums-Renown-Fusion-5piece-Shell-Pack?sku=483267 Still, a very sexy set no matter the size. Members marko46
That's what she said. Thomas, I'm sure there's help out there. But addicts are addicts and we fall off the wagon once in a while. Sometimes for a day, an hour, a month. Just when you think all is well in Thomas's world, you have $3,800.00 worth of drums setting in your living room, holding your hands while setting on the couch sobbing. But, the pain only lasts a short time if you pick yourself up get back on your feet and "play that funky music white boy"..............

Yeah, but I still prefer a 22" bass, and buying that would require buying fusion toms, which I don't like at all. And yeah, I have GAS...
Members turdadactyl
Yup...ebay's dangerous. It'll make you long for the things you can't afford and will suck you into buying the things you can afford but could probably do without. I just bought another vintage amp last week because the ebay jedi mind trick made me.
Members Darten
I feel for ya Thomas.... my wife sees me on eBay, and she begs me.."please don't buy anything", then she tells me "Don't buy anything", then she asks me " How are you going to pay for that?" I usually sign out theere and sign back in when she is not around., buy it and then a box shows up. I get the call from your "Another one of your @#$%%^$% boxes showed up today!!!!" Members SkiAz4Free
something smells fishy about that sale... don't know what it is, may be the whole bad grammer, "my health is bad", box says 4-piece but he's selling a 3-piece. But it sure does look sexyfull.

Wow, that was deep. GAS here too. My wife always says, "Why do you need another drum set?". "Well honey, I have a birch one and a mahogany one but this one is beech and its a different sounding set and different sizes, understand?" "No" "Well honey, I'm the drummer, I know about these things, you just leave these decisions up to me." "Whatever" She's basically learned that if I really want something, its better just to let me have it.

Members D Carroll
Damn man, I am only happy with what I have when I play it. If I am not, I just need more... My pacific kit isn't good enough, I need a few more cymbals... But when I play it, I can't help but think "this is perfection."
