Members jonny toetags
I was just curious what companies make low snare stands.Mine is too high, especially when i use my 13 x 7 snares.I was wondering if the DW 9300L would go lower than my Mapex 950? Members lossforgain
Can't answer about the DW stand as I haven't used one but I love my Mapex snare stand. I don't have any snares deeper than 6.5" but it works great. And it's not an expensive one -- came with an M series kit.
Members jenksdrummer
I bought a Mapex 750 series snare stand for this reason... On my Pro-M - I have a 14x8 Snare. With the 550 stand, it was too high. With the 750, I can cock the ratchet-part down, and use the ball-mount to angle it back more verticle. Ends up being quite a bit lower, now at a comfortable spot. That said, the 950 stand supposedly goes lower, but I don't know for sure.
Members cheeseadiddle
Ludwig makes a very nice low profile stand. I have two of them.
Members jonny toetags
Yeah, i originally traded in my 550 when i go my kit for the 950, but i still feel like the stand needs to be lower. I mean i even look at pics of peoples kits and i see their stand way lower than mine...and I am tall!I will try that trick with the ratchet part. I didn't think of that. I even find my tom stand too high, and it is at the lowest position. I bought a Mapex 750 series snare stand for this reason...On my Pro-M - I have a 14x8 Snare. I'm already sitting pretty high (thighs are way past parallel to the ground)

Members jenksdrummer
I'm already sitting pretty high (thighs are way past parallel to the ground) So you sit "almost on" your snare? If so, that can make it seem to high. Back off a few inches, and it'll also help. Also, angle your snare slightly towards your snare hand, so you're not knocking the rim, if it's bothersome. That said, I sit high anyway...I'm 6', and I think my thighs are not parallel to the ground. I'm not sitting on a toilet back there!

Members Zeromus-X
I bought a Gibraltar rack-mounted snare stand with the single leg that reaches the floor, and hacked about 6" off the leg. Gets as low as I want now.

But if that's your thing, so be it.Go with the Ludwig.
Members cheeseadiddle
I need the low profile stand for my 6.5. Otherwise, it's just too damned high for me. I sit with my thighs slightly higher than parallel.

Members thelegacy
You should put up a picture of your set up with you behind it. This sounds like it couldn't possibly be ergonomic.
