Members boxofrocks
Somebody helped me out awhile back with a cool link to a site that sells Dream Bliss that had video clips of all the cymbals on it. I lost the link. I can't find the site now, search doesn't come up with it. Does anyone have a link to a site that sells Dream with video clips? Members boxofrocks
Ya know the more I look at these and hear them, the more I think dream is wuhan with a a different name stamped on them. Wuhan, agazarian, dream, maybe even saluda, all from the same factory. Am I wrong on this?
Members Cross Eyed Mary
Nope. And they're barely any cheaper than the big 3. I think you could get some Giant Beats at those prices. Vintages A's for alot cheaper.

At least those poor bastards in the factory whacking on cymbals are still getting their 11 cents a week.

Members boxofrocks
That's one issue I have with some cymbal makers, bosphorus being one of them I have issues with. I've watched video tours of the factories and the working conditions suck. The zildjian factory conditions, were much better, healthier for the workers. The degrees of industrial sophistication vary widely in the cymbal industry. Thing is, cymbalsmithing is something of a "black art." Sure, modernized, mechanized factories can make great cymbals, but there is something about the raw fire, sweat and skin cells that fly in those hole-in-the-wall foundries like Agop, Bosphorus, and god only knows how many little dugouts in Wuhan. The pies that come out of those places have a piece of their individual maker in them...a personal stake. Maybe it makes no difference to a lot of players, but it's something that can be sensed. I have an Istanbul Sultan crash among my Zildjians, Paistes, and others, and that thing has a whole different brand of life in it. Just as a point of interest, here's a new brand on the horizon, smith'ed by a break-away from the Turkish foundries, who's also worked for Paiste and Meinl. Check him out. I have a feeling these will be the real thing. http://dirilcymbals.com/

The tour i saw didn't look any worse than a grimey mechanics garage. I'm willing to bet those guys get paid really well compared to other Turkish jobs. {censored}, how many cymbalsmiths are really out there? They're probably harder to find than a {censored}in mathematician.

Despite the working conditions of the these cymbal smiths,I'll be looking the other way when I decide to get some Bosphorus or Meinl cymbals. Members cearleywine
I have much respect for Bosphorus in the way they use the old tools and methods and every cymbal is created from an artist. I've never heard a bad sounding Bosphorus, although I haven't heard a tremendous lot I make it a point to sample when available. In my opinion from every aspect their price fits their product. Members FusionDrums.com
Granted some of those factories aren't as pretty as shiny new factories in the US or Canada, but in the Agop and Bos videos, I see happy, healthy cymbalsmiths making the best pies in the world. I haven't seen any videos of the Chinese factories, but with the amount of industrialization going on over there, they can't be too bad. I didn't realize the Dream's have gone up in price. I'll have to go double check. I didn't realize Front Range Bronze changed their name to Virtual Cymbals. I guess I haven't bought anything recently!
