Members drumtechdad
Worth a look. Several good ideas here (the one about using ribbon for snare straps he must have stolen from Cheese--just as I did). Members Thomas G
He brought up a lot of things I never even though about before. I love watching his videos. They are always such a great learning experience.
Members marko46
Thanks DTD. Those were informative. I was really interested in the Die-cast reso rim and the flanged batter. I'd not ever heard anything about that before. BTW- I always use straps, but I think I will go pick up some of what Bob was using as opposed to the plastic type. I think it's more about the tie down/clip combo. I too will try out the ribbon. I'm not one of those: bags are for groceries ribbons are for presents.... and hair dryers are for...hair type of guys. thanks for posting that DTD. Members devinw
Gatzen delivers as always. This guy is like a damn encyclopedia of drum tech stuff. I still need to get my ass down to a Jo-ann fabrics to get some of that 1/2" ribbon for my snares. I'm just afraid of all the fat chicks there :-X. Members manoeuver
I like the ribbon too. I got a roll of olive drab colored stuff, now it's an identifier for all my snare drums. a buddy of mine in town uses black with white trim on the edges-- I always recognize his builds for sale at GC. Gatzen is a freaking encyclopedia. I really like his incremental approach to improving your drum sound. He sure does use tiny drums though. I wonder how tall he is. Snipping a snare wire out of a set of snares is not surgery, and you don't need a freaking vise. sheesh.

Members boxofrocks
Love Gatzen,He taught me how to put heads on, tune, set up properly, set up mics, even the heads I use are because of what I learned in his videos. He's a little nutty, in a fun way, you can tell he's a real nice guy lol...
