Members AllanGuy
I got $100 from christmas to spend on drum gear. Thinking about getting a new drum throne. Not like a roc n soc, but something better than my stock one. Don't say drum dial either, I already got one.

Members wiresix
do you need any new hardware? I personally always like to clamp my toms to cymbal stands when possible... also if you havnet changed out your kick reso, it will make a nice difference...(I know a lot of people never change the stock reso on their kick) other than that: practice pad metronome books/DVDs sticks cow bell used roto toms a hand drum new felts/plastic sleves your cymbals sit on... cant let those wear through now can we! cymbal polish
Members AllanGuy
+1 man... Or also never hurt to have an extra snare or three If you can find me a decent snare for $100 I will most definitely consider it. Right now I have aquarian performance II heads, and I think they sound pretty good. You guys recommend something else or stay the same? Speaking of heads, should I upgrade my resonant heads from my stock ones? If so, any suggestions? Also, I have a Remo Weatherking Powerstroke 3 for my bass, but I have heard good things about the Superkick II. What do you guys think?

Members Cross Eyed Mary
Buy an Acrolite, or a bunch of goodies, like a cowbell with a BD hoop mount for it, or windchimes. Or buy a 20" Wuhan china and a stand for it, some rivets too maybe? Or thishttp://used.guitarcenter.com/usedgear/details.cfm?listId=104876363 Or any of this {censored}:http://used.guitarcenter.com/usedgear/index.cfm?page=1&srch&category=39&max=100.00&sort=0&dir=desc
Members Kabaalk
A comfy throne is still the best addition I ever made to a kit. Sure, only a drummer would understand how you can spend that kind of money on a chair, but being able to spend hours more sitting behind the kit with more energy, stability, and support will make you a better drummer. A cowbell can hardly claim the same.
Members twosticks
Yes if you have a crappy throne, get a new decent one. or like CEM showed, a rythem block, a cowbell, a used splash, crash, etc. just remember you may have to also get a stand for some things. A used Acrolite can be had for $75-85 in decent shape if you look. I am still using my stock reso heads too. The question has been raised on here before. I think that many will say it does make it sound better, but is not a mind blowing big thing. I've decided that if I were gigging or recording right now, I would replace my resos. Otherwise I'm using stock. Also might stock up stuff you already use, like a brick of sticks, backup snare head, DW4000 pedal for a backup (or move it to your primary). Just head to the drum shop and try and play around. Then come home and search for that item online used for a better price??
Members coyote-1
There ya go! Use that $100 to expand your tonal palette. If you don't already play a melodic instrument, I can think of no better addition than a beginner's orchestra bell set w/ tilting stand and case. You may have to kick in some of your own $$$, but it's sooo worthwhile. Wind chimes are a great addition. Cowbells, agogo bells, wood blocks (esp. the newer plastic 'jam' blocks), triangles, tamborines, vibraslap, a variety of shakers, bongos, a conga, djembe.... there are SO MANY BETTER uses of that hundred bucks than the usual drum/cymbal/throne. Buy.... a bunch of goodies, like a cowbell with a BD hoop mount for it, or windchimes. Members AllanGuy
Well, I tried to ask my parents to help me split drum lessons for a few months until I get a job, but they said no. I really want a new throne, but since I really want to advance my drumming more, I am considering some books and DVD's. Any suggestions? Here are some I looked at while browsing musiciansfriend, so tell me if these are any good. Jojo Mayer Sercret Weapons for the Modern DrummerMusicians Institute Ray LuzierPower Grooves I mostly play hard rock, but I want to be able to play a wide range of styles. Whoever suggested the Isolation Headphones I have some Vic Firth Ones (actually they are on the snare in my avatar), but what is an Acrolite?
