Members boomboomdrums
The other day I walked into a used music store in Seattle. They has this Rogers 3 piece with classic Buddy Rich type wrap. The 20" bass drum had the bass drum sound I've been looking for my whole life. It was boomy and LOUD! Had a Powerstroke III on batter side and coated on front. The toms sounded good but I just couldn't get past that bass drum sound it was so good. Anyway check it out. $1399 sounds kind of high for just the 3 drums. I could trade in my 1997 Yamaha Stage Customs for it but they'd probably only give me $300 tops. What do you think? Members drumtechdad
Whether the price is reasonable or not I don't know, but boy is that a beautiful kit! I'm a sucker for WMP.
Members ThePloughman
500.00 is top dollar. The store needs to deal with you. Trading Musicians prices are way too high on everything they have. They are RE WRAPPED. You need to look at the individual pieces. The Paper Tags MUST be present inside the shells. Cleveland, Dayton, Fullerton.Serial numbers should be reasonably close.

Members Jack Thumper
Seldom are you gonna score a well preserved original wrapped Rogers kit in excellent condition, they're out there mind you but few. My suggestion would be ask to set it up in a room, tune it and once you set in the throne let your ears be the judge of their worth. They truly do have a tone to die for like no other drum company out their can offer. Myself,Ploughman and a few other members who play Rogers can vouch for this magical deep tone. Just remember you can always purchase orphans to extend the kit at reasonable prices and have re-wrapped to match and ask to remove the heads to inspect the bearing edges.Good luck in your decision. On the other hand those are some beautiful drums. If they are the perfect sound then go for them. Maybe sell some other random drum gear you dont use anymore to help fund the kit., Maybe sell some other non drum related junk. Also try to talk the price down but that seems like a given. Rogers aren't that hard to find-- lots of people are unloading gear these days. If these were original and in very very good condition they might command that asking price, but it's a soft market right now.

Members ThePloughman
Agreed it is a soft market right now. And I recently paid A LOT for a 1966 Powertone in Red Wine Ripple. If these drums arent just a blend of orphans that have been redone... if they make you happy... try to deal with them. There are definitely instances when rewrapping a kit is the right thing to do. Even a set of Rogers. But I would try to make a deal with them. Chances are, they arent moving any more gear than anyone else is right now. Members iDrum4ever
Those look nice. But is the inlay falling out of the bd hoop or what? I've been watching Rogers on eBay for a while. There are some very reasonable "original" looking kits for under a grand.Of course you can't test drive those. Members ThePloughman
If you are looking at well cared for Cleveland or Flat Gray Dayton kits.... you really dont need a test drive. It would be hard to get a bad kit.
Members iDrum4ever
Well here's an example for comparison.Toms with Dayton tags and snare with Cleveland.Very clean.
