Made in USA

So, I see the debate all over the place, that nothing is made in USA anymore.

So I've been watching the things we buy real close just to see how much of what I use is made right here in the good 'ol USA.

Well, I stopped by guitar center over the weekend. Picked up some regular supplies, like sticks, strings, picks, a couple pieces I need for fixing up a guitar I'm working on, You know the normal musician stuff. I just buy whatever it usually cheaper, (usually people say USA is more expensive).

So I get back, and start to look through the stuff to see where it's made.

What I found..

Strings - Made in USA

Picks - Made in USA

Sticks - Made in USA

Other parts for guitar - Made in USA

The receipt in the bag - Made and printed USA

The plastic bag - Made and printed USA..

So without even looking, just buying stuff at good prices, and waiting till I got home to look, I found everything, including the plastic bag was made right here in the USA. Nothing in the bag was made in China.

So to the argument that nothing is made here any more I say :blah:

And to the argument that USA made is expensive is say :bor:

Everything in the bag was for a good price and of good quality. So myth has been busted.. At least I think it has.

When it comes to Hand Drums (and many other things too) it's almost impossible for a domestic product to compete w/ the price/profit margin that is achievable when selling and imported one.

If you go to Africa or Bali (and find some drum builders) you can buy a full sized drum for anywhere from $20.00/$5.00 , go there with the intent to buy a shipping crate full and the price drops further.

This is why when we go to shows we hardly ever meet other drum vendors who actually build their drums , almost everyone we meet sells imported drums.

But...

There is the built in the USA factor , which I do pimp sometimes .....(only because some people seem so shocked when they find out we built all our drums that I have to figure some percent of the populace walks by our booth and thinks they're imports too)....anyhow sometimes mentioning built in the USA seals the deal.

We do also get customers that seek us out because we're the builder/seller , and sometimes we get hunted down by folk that are really, really stoked to get a drum made of recycled wood , of course I'm down w/ "Green" and all that good stuff...only one planet and all....think of the children.... , but mainly we use recycled wood whenever possible cause it's free , it's just good business , and as small business owner I have to try to save money every chance I get , it ain't easy competing w/ Africa , {censored} they invented the damn things.

Of course guys like me are small potatoes , when it comes to big business I ain't got a clue , 'cept that Canada makes great rope and Pakistan sells lots of Goat Skin

one of the most comfortable things i own to wear is a pair of new balance 903's, levi's capital e's, and an american apparel v neck and hoody. that's all made in america.

Very good.

Any New Balance that I've looked at recently, along with just about any other footwear, has been made in China.

My most recently purchased Levi's have been made in the Americas, but not in the United States of.

L.L. Bean clothes that I've bought in the last few years have been made elsewhere, too.
