What is this stuff on my cymbal?

Mentioned in another thread that I recently purchased a Sabian AA Raw Bell Dry Ride off ebay. It has some "stuff" on it that does not want to come off with the Sabian cymbal cleaner. Not hurting anything, I just like clean equipment. Looks black and some of it seems to be sweat or water related I think due to the look of it. What do you think it is (some chemical reaction, corrosion, just plain ol' patina, etc.) and what do you suggest to get it off? Thanks for your help!

Looks like the previous owner was an auto mechanic. Maybe get some Mean Green, it's the number one hand cleaner with auto mechanics.

:poke:Im an auto mechanic...................my cymbals don't look like that! Bad stereotyping! stop it!:poke:

Sound is OK I think ... just don't like the black stuff. Sabian cleaner did not take it off, I am going to try some Groove Juice and see it will take care of it. Like someone else said, my Paistes have never had anything like this. It is much more about the asthetics than anything else.

I guess one man's gunk is another man's tone ;) I know there is a debate over cleaning versus not cleaning. I just happen to fall on the cleaning side. I do not notice a negative effect on this cymbal's tone after the cleaning. It's all personal preference; I'm happy with the cymbal's sound and that is the main thing.
