i have a 50's slingy student snare. it has a straight hoop on the bottom, but some butthole put a trip flange on top. it fits badly, so i want to replace it. i remember seeing some online somewhere a while ago, but i'm at a loss now. also, looking for the clips, anyone?

fyi, its MOP, in pretty good shape, 5x14, original except for top head and hoop. i think it's a 52, if memory serves me. flea market, $5! my moms bought it for me years ago, and actually talked the guy down from $10 cuz the top head was torn! that's good ol' mom for ya!

Are you looking for an original rim and clips (vintage), or reproductions (modern)? You try doing a search for "the vintage drum center", or Not so modern drummer, they may help you get the vintage replacements. Or try one of the supply houses (amdrumparts, etc) to get the modern equivalent.

yeah, checked the 'bay. all for not, currently. will keep looking, and will check y

all's suggestions, thx.

loss, the triple flanger that's on it now is just too big. it angles the rods a little too much for my taste. i'm sure it's ok for {censored}z and giggz, but it looks goofy, and i really would wanna put any type of tension on it. plus, the bottom's o.g. so it really should match, imo.

it's in round, in pretty good shape, too. it would only take a clean-up to get it lookin' killer. def worth the investment.

yeah, box, go mom, indeed!

question:

single flange=straight?

i checked the link rumstik dropped, but the pic is hard to see. i assumed straight meant just that: no flange. single flange, meant to me there would be some bend in the hoop. no?

the bottom one i have is straight, straight, straight.
