Members joe97yo
That took less than three months. I consider myself a fairly hard hitter, but I don't break cymbals or dent my single ply heads. I'm still gonna file the warranty claim, even though it's expired. Anyone else have a similar experience? Or better yet, is there a piece of shoddy drum gear or product that everyone should avoid?

That sucks that your sticks snapped, thats like what happened with my Joey Jordison sticks it sucked. I am getting some 7A's for Christmas hopefully. Members cearleywine
I broke a shaft in my punk years. Horrible sticks, even if they do last longer what dull pieces of plastic {censored}.
Members boxofrocks
Better off just buying good solid wood sticks IMO.. I haven't busted but maybe 4 sticks in the last year, they usually just shed out from rim shots but never bust.
Members fesswrx
If you do any rimshots on the snare that would do it, especially with die-cast rims. Had a pair given to me for Christmas, lasted a month. I'm not even a hard hitter. A pair of VF 5A's last me for weeks until they are chewed up on the shoulder. I may break 3 or 4 pair a year. (I love my rimshots though). Ah one more thing, warranty claim denied for abuse. Good luck with the claim.
Members 2xBass
Made the mistake of buying a packet of them from some crappy music store on a way to a gig. Broke all of them in countless different places, never going to give them another shot (unless sponsered). I stick with Vater sticks now, good stuff. Members JakeTheSnake
the pro mark oak sticks last forever. I've heard this more than once... How does the density and feel of the oak sticks compare to a stick made of hickory?
Members cearleywine
I can't get into oak. Too stiff and heavy for me.

Members Longshanks
I've heard this more than once... How does the density and feel of the oak sticks compare to a stick made of hickory? they're slightly heavier, so i usually get them in a smaller than my regular sticks, seems to work well. but comparing two of the same size, i don't really find the difference that bad. the oak are slightly heavier and like changing any sticks feels different and takes some adjustment. Members cdawg
only thin i don't like about oaks, is they give you no warning. at least maples/etc splinter before the break. oaks just POP! and they're gone.

True that man. I had a pair of oaks before the Aheads and was like, "Hey, these are REALLY durable!" then POP! I picked up a pack of Sound Percussion sticks from GC to hold me over while I research my next solution to the Finding The Perfect Stick problem. Members drumtechdad
My kid uses the oaks. (I don't.) 747Bs no less. They love you long time. Tips last forever. Heavier and not as resiliant as hickory. No matter what stick you use you have to get used to it.
Members cdawg
ah, i don't sweat it too much anymore. i prob go through abot a stick or 2/week. that doesn't seem too excessive. i'm just getting better at dealing with the swap. Members imnotded
If I remember correctly Ahead says you need to replace the shafts quite often. I worked in a music store for a while about 8 or 9 years ago and we always had people breaking those. I've thought about buying a pair for my vdrums, but I prefer wood tips anyway on an acoustic kit. The Ahead sticks are a nice thought, but quite impractical imo.

And Niel, ain't them 7A's a bit skinny for teh br00talz?
Members aenemated
I thought you used the Danny Carey Signatures. Those are pretty durable sticks, I think.AK most of the time, i do. but there're a few songs the band does that i REALLY have to lay back on, so i use smaller sticks for those. switch back and forth between the matt cameron sigs and 5As, depending on how they're feelin. most of our songs i have to rock the {censored} out on, so those are when the DCs make the appearance(s). carry on.
