Members boxofrocks
This is off topic, but why not.. Heres a place to discuss games for PS2, PS3, Xbox, and Wii.. I started getting into gaming, to have something to do with the fam, they're all game geeks, and I'm .. Well.. Not... So I acquired a PS3 from the pawn shop.. Love pawn shops, got a hell of a deal.Still getting into the games, we get half off game rentals at the video store, so I've been renting to see whats out there for this thing.. The PS3 came with Spider man, Prince of persia, and Mirrors edge. So far I'm disappointed with all but Spiderman.. So out of what I rented.. The orange box, Guitar hero world tour, Avatar, and Assassins creed.. I liked Avatar, that's it. Everyone told me Assassins creed was amazing, after the hour long and boring intro was over I thought the game kind of sucked, and guitar hero is just plain stupid, has nothing to do with playing guitar.. What games should I try next, I get to rent them for 1.50 for a week, and a lot of them are rent one get one free,. I don't think 1st person anything is my kind of thing, they make me a little dizzy. Anybody know whats good? I loved God of war on PS2, is 3 any better on PS3?
Members JakeTheSnake
What games should I try next, I get to rent them for 1.50 for a week. Crash Bandicoot. You could probably buy it for $10. It was made for PlayStation, but you can play it on a PS3.

Members 1001gear
I can't deal with games. Even Pac-Man boggles my mind. (Who said that's not surprising???) I would consider having GT 5 around though.

Members cearleywine
I only have a PS2, but Grand theft Auto 4 is amazing. Yet not for the young ones. On PS2 lately I've enjoyed playing Star Wars battlefront 2 and Marvel's Ultimate alliance 2. Also any of the Dynasty Warriors games are great, onslaught of enemies in ancient asian battles. Members Cross Eyed Mary
Does assassins creed pick up after awhile? Maybe I didn't play it long enough. It's a game that requires tact and PLANNING. You don't simply mash the fire button and watch baddies drop. You see, there's a reason Halo sold so many goddamn copies, any frat boy jerkoff can pick up the controller and start lobbing grenades. It sounds to me like you want the Michael Bay equivalent of video games. Try GTAIV, and Killzone 2. I thought Killzone 2 was just as good as anything Halo. Better graphics too. And of course every asshole and his mother seems to like all of the COD's. Try Uncharted 2: Drakes Fortune. Kind of an Indiana Jones vibe. Treasure hunter seeks Marco Polo's lost treasure, lots of action and explosions. I saw a video of Dante's Inferno and it looked pretty sick. Picture God Of War if it was in Hell. Just avoid anything Splinter Cell or Metal Gear Solid, i can guarantee you'd hate these games.

Members faileddrummer
Resident Evil 4 /Thread I enjoyed Assassin's Creed. You kind of have to get into the game first though. I hate traveling the map for two hours trying to find the town I need to get to. Skate and Skate II are two of my favorite games. Nothing better! (except RE) Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics is fun as well. Resistance: Fall Of Man was one of the only first persons I ever liked. But, the only reason I pick up a controller year after year: The Resident Evil franchise. They redefined survival horror gaming and MADE IT their own. Resident Evil drew you in to the story and told you what was going on, while Resident Evil 2 introduced two characters who will always leave an impression. Wesker vs Chris Redfield, Leon Kennedy becoming a government agent.,.. However, I suggest skipping RE5 unless you're a die hard fan.
Members cdawg
+1 on the resident evil front. controls will f with you for a little, but re4 is a good place to start, if you only want to sample. i know you say you don't like FPS, but i'd try black. pretty good FPS, imo. driving games, can't beat any gran turismo, but look for sometihng with more arcade-type controls. they're less frustrating. something made by sega...(i'm blanking our here...) i know project gotham is xbox, what's a good comparison to ps3??? Members piersonm
GTA4 expansion pack (Lost and the Damned/Gay Tony) and Brutal Legend are my current playlist. GTA...well, that explains itself. Brutal Legend. Fun, but easy. Nice combo of open sandbox, RPG'ish' and strategy based war. Add in Jack Black and Teh Metulz soundtrack, makes for a decent game. Members Jeck
All of the Devil May Cry games, All Resident Evil games, all of the Metal Gear games, all of the Tekken games, Twisted Metal 3 and Twisted Metal Black. That's all I can think of right now. I haven't owned a PS in so long, but I wish I had one every time my xbox 360 messes up.
Members boxofrocks
I almost went with an Xbox, then the lady showed me a table full of broken returns, maybe about 50 of them on a table, said they were all returned within a week, bricked, so they were selling them for 50$ each AS IS. Didn't want to end up with somebody elses problem.

Members Jarick
Here's what I've been playing since I got my 360 a year ago: Oblivion - played it for dozens of hours until a bug prevented me from doing anything other than completing the main quest, then the expansions wouldn't load, so I traded it. NHL 09 - played it nonstop and loved Be a Pro. Fallout 3 - currently playing it nonstop, no expansions yet, probably will get the GOTY when it drops in price and trade mine. NHL 10 - got it the day it came out, meh, not as good as 09. Fable 2 - was a ton of fun, kind of easy and repetitive, but even my girlfriend loved playing it. Mass Effect - took a while to get into but really liked it. Burnout Paradise - it was kind of fun for a couple weeks, haven't played it since. Gears of War - got halfway through it, not bad but I like more of a strategy and RPG shooter than run and gun. Orange Box - I got bored not even halfway through the first episode...Portal was okay, multiplayer was fun for a week but few servers left. Halo 3 - popped in a couple times, it's kind of boring, haven't gotten into it yet. Bioshock - was excited for this game but got kind of bored with it. Other games I have but haven't played yet: TimeshiftAssassin's Creed I really like RPG's, especially with a good combat system. Fallout 3 for me has been my favorite for the most part, although I have loved every Final Fantasy game. Really wish they could get Beyond Good & Evil working for backwards compatability. I do miss the old school platformers...will someday get a Wii for those (and the GF wants one, and the kid will be of gaming age in a couple years...). Members faileddrummer
Assassin's Creed got fun after I learned how to block and stab. R1 + square I believe. When it came to save a citizen, I'd walk up, stab one with my short blade, then grab my long sword and wait for them to attack. Plus climbing up buildings is fun. Also, trying to time the kill is always a challenge. The only thing I HATED was the "twist." It should've taken place in the age you're playing. But the game is damn fun!
