The SKI and SKII are just WAY too muffled for my tastes. Not a fan of the EMAD-yeah this felt ring on the outside of the drum looks great! Never mind they sound like a 70's concert bass drum. Thud, thud, thud... uh, no thanks. By the way it's not uncommon at all for drummers to use one brand of head on toms and another on the snare and another on the kick, so I don't see the big deal about the video. Seriously, who cares? Nothing goes on my kick drums but PS3's I think the single-ply SK can do when miked, although it's not the sound I like. Very soft, very dull. The SKII is nearly as useless as the Powersonic, IMO. But I've seen a vid of Roy Burns himself demonstrating Aquarian heads, and they all sounded like {censored}. Makes you wonder. BTW, I thought that snare sounded awful. Yeah, those videos are the worst. Drums that are tuned wrong, cheap tiny mics, ugh...Peavey shells and obviously filmed in an extra room with some space to setup some drums and shoot in. Figure it was a free video you got in 95 in you bought a snare or tom pack....they were still a new company and just wanted to put an example video together...too bad it sucked. I've used all of the popular heads and have never had a bad experience with them. Don't really care for Evans every head I've used has either been brittle or they lose their tone real quick. Remo is real hit and miss with getting a decent head. Like everything else, if you haven't tried a set or even heard them in the real world, you can't base 'a {censored}ty sound' of a horrible Youtube vid. I stopped using pinstripes when I started buying my own heads. I think they have some good crap here and there... Just think all the other players in the game took more effort to grow.. Evans with HD Dry, EMAD, etc... Remo just kinda went with the flow... and it's hurt them pretty bad. Orange county kit of mine came with some remos...
