step 1, get that altitude like ear change. you know, feels plugged so you yawn and chew gum to try and pop it.

step 2, whine about it the first day, fall asleep...wake up sort of used to it.

step 3, wait a week for it to go away [doesn't feel 'clogged' just feels like it needs to pop]

step 4, realize by week two that you're used to it, and consult the internet.

step 5, finally take their advice and decide to see a doctor on week 3, only because you want to hear the world in stereo again, and you're fearing for permanent hearing damage.

step 6, hesitate because you don't have insurance, but go anyway.

Finally took heed of everyone's advice and went to the doctor. I can hear out of it again.

It was just an earwax potato. Hella gross, but the nurse flushed that bitch out.

My god. Everything sounds so LOUD!

:thu:

Man, you've got me thinking about going too, now. I also think I have the beginnings of tinnitus.

Lucky you..

I've been 100% deaf in my left ear for 20 years now. Had a hotspot monitor on the road that literally messed me up, doc said she could fix it, surgery went bad, now it's permanently gone.

Right ear is now also going, supposed to wear a hearing aid, but I've become quite used to saying, "what?"

Deaf ear still rings..hasn't stopped in 20 years, occassionally it changes pitch, that is really the only time I notice it.

Being deaf is really handy sometimes:

(1) wife snores, lay on my good ear, can't hear a thing

(2) meetings,,can't hear what's being said, not responsible for doing what they say.

(3) salespeople, turn my head, salespitch is over for me.

Go! the longer you wait the more it hurts. It is reversible with a proper brace or strap. The earlier on you catch it, the easier it is to fix.

tinnitus is different then tendenitus [sp?]

and yeah. the cerumen impact was my 'diagnosis'

they kept telling me to not shove q-tips in my ear canal. I {censored}ING DON'T.

"Cerumen impaction may be more common in men, elderly, and in people with mental health problems."

I have quite a few issues that are most common to old white men.

I thought I was a 26 year old white woman....

I'm starting to wonder if my mother has been lying to me all these years.
