They could be M series which is birch or Pro M which is maple. Hard to tell with such small pics b/c the badges are so similar

After a close up and from what I remember from my M series toms I don't believe it is either.

Here is a closeup of the badge on the drums you have pics of. Not sure what series came before the M & Pro M but they seem to have similar tom mounting hardware

Definately not Pro M. Pro M had the "no hole" suspension mount for the tom. Could be the M series, but looks like an older Venus series in copper to me, those look wrapped, not lacquered.

Yea, I did miss that. Good point. Are Venus above or below Mars?

The "Mars" series were later called the "M" series. The Venus series were introduced about the time they changed the names on their line up, it was under the M or Mars kit, it's, I believe, an all poplar kit. I've always been into Mapex....

I have a buddy who has a Mars kit. I should check to see if he wants to sell them. He bought them used anyway. All Poplar though? Poplar sucks ifn you ask me. But hey, I dig Mapex and it could be a beater kit maybe.

Sorry for the thread steal OP.

I was going to say that but for whatever reason I was thinking mine had a hole - then I just now remembered that I don't have bass-drum mounted toms, and my bass drum doesn't even have a tom mount - lol...
