I understand what you mean, and have been there a few times myself. Sometimes, the best thing to do is to just move on to the next chapter in your drumming life. Oddly enough, I just came home from filling in for a band that I left for much the same reason. It was nice to not have to give a {censored} about the outcome, although I played it professionally. The last gig was an absolute blast - I've never smiled or laughed that much on stage with Griffon before. The crowd was all the old friends and new friends of the band, passing a steady flow of beverages onto the stage and singing along. and sharing in the moment. Definitely went out with a bang.
