Members the DW
Greetings from the Big White ski resort in Kelowna, BC, Canada! Arrived here yesterday, and went out for a session this morning. I'm just a beginner, so my skills are not that great. Anyway, I had just done an easy Green (beginner) run and was riding the lift with a couple of locals up to the top of the mountain. One of the guys mentioned that he had a shot of whiskey before coming out. I didn't think much of it at the time. Then I found out that the 'green' runs at this particular location are bordering on Blue (intermediate) skill level. Long story short, I ended up walking down several spots (after falling several times - I'm a beginner) and at that moment, I remembered that the last two times I went on a ski vacation, I had downed some Jack Daniels before heading off to the slopes. Didn't seem to have any problem back then. It's amazing what a little 'liquid courage' can do, eh? Pics will be posted when I get back home to sunny Hawaii. Just my luck it will be storming when I get home. oh yeah, for Bitter Dawn: excess powder can be a hinderance to a beginner! ha ha

Members Bitter Dawn
Nice Bill, lol. DW: I can imagine man, haven't attempted braving the mountains in many, many years. Never tried to ski but, when it comes to snowboard..it turned out to be buttboarding for me lol. You're about 3 hours from me dude, assuming the road conditions are acceptable. Enjoy your stay in the Great White North!

Members the DW
I really am having a hard time not thinking of you skiing in a bright-ass flower-encrusted shirt. I am. At least everyone can see me! Had to take a break this morning due to hungover-ness. The other reason is that I think my gf may have picked up my keys for the ski-lock, so I can't get my skis out until she gets back. Oh well..... EDIT: As it turns out, I had dropped them in the ski storage room. Someone had found them and put them up on a high molding, out of sight so only I would find it......if I had looked up there in the first place! DUH. Members Phrozt
I actually used to keep a bottle of rumplemintze (I'm sure I butchered that) in the freezer. 100proof smooth peppermint schnapps. FANTASTIC for colds.
Members the DW
As far as alcohol goes, I can't believe how expensive it is here. Back home, I can get a 750 ml bottle for about $18. Here, I'm paying that much for the half size (325 ml) bottle!! Maybe it has something to do with being in a resort area. Hmmmm.....
