I have been perusing thru the Cascio music catalog now for a while and have come across more percussion instruments than I could have imagined. What do some of these things do and how do they work?

Monsoon Rainmaker

Cactus Rain Sticks

One Handed Triangle

Ching Chok

LP Cricket

LP Utters

Pocket Kokiriko

basket Ganza

Meinl Cajita

I musta been gone way too long cause I never heard or have seen any of these things...that is unless they were called somethging different way back when...

- Monsoon Rainmaker

- Cactus Rain Sticks

Both the same concept, just different materials in construction. A long-ish tube filled with material, that when turned upside down, makes the sound of rain. Kind of.

The cactus ones are exactly that: dried cacti with dried cactus needles inside. If you listen REAL close, it doesn't sound much like rain, but a few feet away, and...yeah. fair enough effect.

- One Handed Triangle

Do you REALLY need an explanation on what this is/does?

It's a triangle that can be played with only...

One hand.

- Ching Chok

Despite the Asian-sounding name, I believe it's actually more of a Brazilian item. Somewhat of a cricket sound.

- LP Cricket

Makes the sound of a cow.

- LP Utters

Never heard of this, but a quick Google search yields an interesting bit of detail; makes a sound like a flock of birds.

-Pocket Kokiriko

Small version of the traditional Japanese item. Makes a sound like dominoes falling.

- basket Ganza

A shaker of some sort. never heard of this either.

-Meinl Cajita

Based on an old South American instrument; a little wooden box worn around the neck and played with a small wooden striker. Heard OF this, but never heard one played.

How many of you have used brake drums off a car! I HAVE!!! They were terrific! I was just wondering about all these new toys I seem to be missing out on...don't be bringing on all this southpaw bigotry in MY direction. I can't help it if you all learned an improper technique...:p:p:p:p:p

Oh yeah, sure makes it easy for me considering my dad's a mechanic and owns a parts store ;) best sounding ones I've ever used were off of a 1929 Model A

"Test drove" some we got when taking in the inventory left behind when Frank's/Drums Ltd. shut their doors, but never in an actual playing environment.
