IC pedal won't stay on the floor

Yeah, odd title.

At show on Saturday, stuck my double ICs on my Export kick, both of which were sitting on my drum rug. Anyway, the base of the pedal wasn't sitting flush on the floor, and no matter what height I set the spurs on the kick, I couldn't get the fkn pedal to sit flat. First time this has happened, and I'm a bit confused.

All I know for sure is that the imbalance made both the pedal and the kick+racks bounce if I played the pedal too far down on the foot-board. That's kind of annoying and had me a little paranoid the hoop was going to break on the kick, so I played way higher up on the foot-board than I'm used to.

Anyone got a suggestion other than, "Don't be a moron"?

A few thoughts:

1.) Loosen the screws all the way so the pedal sits flush. Then, advance them until just the tips press into the ground. These are to prevent the pedal from sliding forward, not to stick to the floor.

2.) Regarding them moving off the floor due to where you strike the footboard, perhaps your spring tension is waaaaay too tight to allow that much "bouncy" in the pedal? I use an IC double and it's pretty reliable to be rock solid and stay where it's put.

Just some thoughts!

I've seen some kits where the BD hoop is metal and has an odd-shaped inside curve, to the point that the clamp on the IC will not sit correctly. I know it has a pin to swivel on, but I still prefer it to sit as flush as possible. This could cause the pedal to come off at an odd angle and therefore not sit flush.

FWIW -- I usually set my spurs to lift the kick approx. 3/4" off the ground in the front.

Also, I am not sure if there's those sharp screws for the master pedal (to prevent from sliding), but I know for certain that my main pedal just sits flush on the ground, sitting on the pedal's rubber. In other words, if those screws exist, I certainly don't use them.

Now, for the slave, I actually had a serious problem with the pedal walking...so I removed the springs from underneath those 2 screws and tightened the screws down all the way. The slave pedal stopped walking. Any other way and the slave would walk 6" in just 1 song (and I don't play metal or anything, either).

My drum rug has a stop on it so that the kick can't move anywhere, and my master pedal has a few strips of velcro that hold it on the rug anyway.

Yes, I've used these pedals on this kick before.

The bounce comes from the "heel" of the pedal not touching the ground. If I play the pedal down low, it's going to bounce.

I'm wondering if the hoop is just an odd shape or something. I might have to try putting a piece of cardboard between the clamp and the hoop, or something along those lines.

I'm going to try a few things and see what happens. I'm trying to work through the physics of why the hell it isn't working.

Years ago, when I had my blue sparkle kit. the bass drum hoops where a strange shape on the inside. The kit actually came with a hard rubber insert to put under the pedel clamp. the rubber piece was a half moon on the bottom and flat on top. worked very well, just a pain to have to keep track of it anytime you moved the kit.

I'm thinking conditions specific to that gig - uneven floor, or something stuck under and to the rug etc...

If it's still wobbly, bent plate, kick spurs off kilter, pedal misaligned at clamp, you lost some velcro at the back end of the plate, bla bla...

I'll be sure to let you know, but the pedal itself is fine... unless the clamp has a problem.
