Finally broke down and replaced my old recorder with this one. I gotta say, for $99 this one works really well! Used it at the gig last Saturday (acoustic rock band) and the track came out great! It has a camera-type tripod socket in back, and is very easy to use. Comes with a 2GB MicroSD card, good for 3+ hours in .wav format, or something like 17 hours in .mp3 format. An interesting feature I haven't tried is the Peak Reduction that will bring the overall level down and keep it there if the level is set too high when you start. It also has standard limiting and full auto level control, if you want. When playing back, you can vary the tempo without affecting pitch, and the other way too, I think.

Anyway, for $99 I'd have to say this is a winner.

Our guitar player bought one of those here a while back. We recorded our band out of my basement during practice one night playing around. I really sounded very well....I was pleasantly surprised. You can follow the link of our band in our sig and then look at the videos on the page. Some of the recordings are there....like the page while you there, we need all the help we can get!

Do you hook it up to the mixer?

You can if you want, but the built-in mics are good and I like to place mine somewhere out in the audience. I have a camera tripod that I'm gonna use on Wednesday to see how that works out.

Oh, and a pair of alkaline AA batteries are supposed to last for 10 - 12 hours, or something like that.

cool...DW if you get some recordings share them, along with placement. The ones on our facebook page were recorded in our basement. No mics on the drums, guitars through amps and vocals through our PA monitors only. The recorder was set centered, about 4 feet in front of the band. We did gig a venue after that where we tried to record about 15 ft in front of one of the mains..........the results were not impressive. We will continue to experiment!

Here's one from Saturday. Recorded from about 20' away, unit was placed on a counter that was 45 deg. angle to the stage. Playing the house CB700 kit with my snare and cymbals. I just noticed I screwed up a fill towards the end. Too many shots of Jack! LOL!

...and I think somebody was standing in front of it for parts of the tune.

Another sample:

Rectangular ballroom, approx. 70' x 150' x 12'. Stage was located on the long wall and I had the recorder on a tripod directly across the stage on the other long wall. Drums not mic'd.

70' ceilings? and 12' wide. pretty strange space.
