Members SeVeReDmUd
Anybody have it, and have trouble with it doing strange stuff? I have been trying for 3 days to get 1 of our band's song recordings on to the computer, but it keeps sounding like a flanger is being used or something. For a little background on this: -I record the separate tracks onto my Boss BR-8 8track digital recorder. (complete with 100mb ZIP DISK memory) hahahaha -Then, I playback and set the track levels. -Then, I connect the BR-8 to the computer via RCA cable-to-1/8inch jack connector into the "line in" or the "Microphone" input on my computer. -I use cakewalk Music Creator 3 to Record the tracks as 2 tracks (for volume) -Usually, now I would just save the file. Then Export it to a folder on my desktop, and open with itunes. Then i can convert it into an MP3 file. LATELY: When I record onto the cakewalk, it records the song at varying levels and sounds like the song was played through a flanger. It's REALLY BAD sounding. I tried to mess with some settings...i.e. the inputs and outputs to no avail. Does anyone have ay idea what is going on here? Or what I might have done. Or what i should look for. I need HELP PLEASE:cry:
Members SeVeReDmUd
:eek:I have used cakewalk many times in the past and it always worked fine. This whole thing started recently. I also tried using a 1/4inch cable going OUT of the BR-8 to the Line In on the computer using an 1/8inch adapter. No dice.... Also...on playback...the vocals sound louder but the music fades off into almost a low warble. Weirdo stuff happening here. Do i have a poltergeist?

Members Dthraco
Odd issue. I don't have a fix, but recording from the BR-8's audio out to the computer mic in is really going to degrade the audio quality of the recording. If you can transfer the digital files from the BR-8 to your computer, you might get better results.

I can make it sound decent. It's just not AS good quality as if it was digital transfer. Since you mentioned the digital way...I need to get a cord that goes from digital output to usb to get it digitally on my comp. I can't find any such plug anywhere. So far... As I mentioned, the BR-8 has 100mb Zip Disk drive for its memory, so that's all i have to work with. Any ideas how i could go about this or find the correct cord to transfer? Members Dthraco
Do you have a zip drive for your computer? I would think that would be the way to go? Also, doesn't the BR-8 have the ability to save off individual tracks?
Members SeVeReDmUd
No zip on the comp. The tracks are individual, but it would be a bitch to try and match the tracks up. It can be done but it would take forever. I may do that if I can get it to record the song properly.
Members Dthraco
Hold the phone... I re-read your post. You are trying to record a mixed song you made with the BR-8 to your computer, right? Do you have a Line-In on your computer? That would work better than a mic in. Members SeVeReDmUd
UPDATE: I bought the newest version of Cakewalk....Cakewalk 5, this weekend. Tried to record on to the comp again....and guess what... it did the SAME EXACT THING. Nice....huh? So it MUST be a problem with input/output settings, if not the entire computer. so, wish me luck.
