Electro-Harmonix XO Metal Muff with Top Boost Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal

Sound Quality

I've replaced my trusty metalzone of 16 years with the Metal Muff! I've always loved my metalzone, even with it's touchy midrange adjustments. Now, I'm blown away with the Metal Muff. Most notible is how quiet this pedal is. It is by far the quietist (floor noise) distortion box ever! Secondly, not head aches with the midrange. Less 80's sounding. Thirdly, the harmonics from this pedal are incredible. I ponder if some octavia circuitry lies inside this box. Top it all off, the boost feature is very cool for soloing. Especially if you has another guitar player in your band. This feature could have used a secondary tone control but hey, maybe on the Metal Muff II it will have one.

Reliability/Durability

Inside the electronics are super small! It all looks bullet proof to me and I have a military soldering certificate.

General Comments

I play metal, grunge and blues rock.

I've been playing since 1969.

I'd replace it if it were stolen.

Finally a distortion pedal that smokes the Metalzone!

It looks cool!

Less expensive than a Metalzone too!

I use the Metal Muff with Fender and Marshall tube amps and a 2000 Fender American Standard Stratocaster with Dimarzio Humbuckers (just like Yngwie)

The Dimarzio Area 61 and 58 humbuckers sound killer! I'm gonna buy me some!
