Marshall JMP-1 Tube MIDI Guitar Preamp

Sound Quality

Gibson LP Marshall JMP-1 Preamp TC Electronics G-Major FX Unit Peavey Classic 50/50 Tube Power Amp Marshall 1936 Speaker Cab This thing REALLY needs a tube poweramp to make it shine. When i keep the levels down, it's damn near impossible to get the great crunch and smooth leads added by a cranked poweramp. The speaker-emultated line outs and headphone jack will really let you see what i mean here. Assuming you are able to crank the power-amp up, you'll love this preamp. Otherwise, it's thin and buzzy. I'll rank this as a 7... i'd say it's a 10 with a cranked poweramp and a 5 without...

no problems so far

It's good. I used to play through a DSL, but switched because i wanted MIDI control. I think the DSL sounded better in pretty much every aspect, but when you crank up a good poweramp under it, this is still a great peice of gear. I just got sick of having to hit 5 diferent pedals and doing the whole "tap-dance" thing live. Now, it's just tap a button and go =)
