Music Licensing ???

I've been recently getting more into the whole licensing side of music so my question is what route do you recommend for a newbie to go??  Would you say get your material to as many companies as possible, is it better to just try to forge a relationship with one or two of the main companies as opposed to spreading myself around too much, or what? I'm familiar with companies such as Killer Tracks, Pump Audio, Jingle Punks and a few more,and I know some are VERY more selective than others and hard to crack into but I'm just trying to get a idea of how I should approach licensing in general.

There is no 'one answer' for this.

I would approach every distribution network available to you, and see what each think of your music and your product. They may wish to only hold certain tracks, or want you to work exclusively. The best thing for you to do is get in touch with them all, and see what each have to offer, and then decide what best fits. I think the idea of you knowing what you want to do before you've even been offered placement is commendable, but at this stage a pointless exercise.

Yea I agree, there is no one way however there are some things to think about. Do you want a non-exclusive deal or exclusive? I prefer to go the non-exclusive route because it gives you more freedom to pitch your music with other companies.
