Summer fairs, festivals, city, county affairs. What is your procedure for getting in touch with the important people who hire??? Im assuming the best start is to get a hold of the right people but where should one start....city courthouse? tourism bureau? what is the best advice you can give?? Nearly all of them will have a website, and somewhere on that website you will find a phone number or a contact name. It can take a bit of work to even find exactly the correct decision maker, but we did it through trial and error for years and landed some outstanding big stage gigs opening for major acts by just being persistent.Sometimes, if we knew someone else who had played for them before we were able to wangle an introduction too...but we have a very good reputation locally for professionalism and delivering a top notch show. Be aware that a lot of these type venues will have their booking done long before the event. Start making enquiries 8 months to a year ahead of time.
