stereo amps

I understand that this inquiry doesn’t directly correlate with the purpose of this forum/forte however I thought there might be some useful input given the breadth of experience and general knowledge of the members:

I wanted to know is someone could recommend a simple 1 to 2 channel (input/output) stereo amplifier that only has basic features (I have eq’s) for the purpose of general listening with turntables. I have a set up to host the speakers etc, I just wanted something basic but quality. Frugality and the simplicity are key here with an expectation of general quality.

My past experiences have been with NAD amps but as we know those can get very pricey.

I was deducing that because stereo equipment 0f this nature isn’t as sought after as it once was I could find some good pieces in the $70-$100 range due to saturation or lack of demand given my basic needs.

Your thoughts are appreciated,

So you're looking to just listen to a record on one turntable, correct?

Assuming that's the case, it's not quite as simple as just plugging a turntable into an amplifier. You may already know this, but a turntable's output signal is very weak and must be boosted to line level by a phono preamp before it hits the bigger main amplifier to power the speakers. That means that you need some sort of receiver between the turntable and the amp to boost the signal to line level and regulate the listening volume. For DJ's that's our mixer, for home audio it's a stereo receiver with a phono input.

If you have nothing else besides speakers and eq's, a simple solution would be to get a receiver and amplifier combined into one unit. There are enough of these around that you should have no problem finding a decent one for cheap, especially if you're patient. No reason you couldn't still get an NAD, or if you don't mind something a bit older Marantz made a bunch of good stuff that is always available.

As far as I understand your needs, something like this should work, though who knows what it will end up selling for...
