Members mk7169
hi allnot sure if this is the correct place to post about this, but ill give it a try. im looking for recommendations if there is a product that can suit my needs. what i need is a compact multi-channel mixer, preferably 8 channels. i need this mixer to have a descent mic preamp so i can run my shure sm56/57 with a nice sound for live applications. also, id like to have a headphones out and be able to click each mixer channel to output into the headphones instead of to the mix, so i can listen to a channel in my headphones before adding it to the live mix. it should be able to play some channels out to the mix and play whichever channels out to my headphones. please let me know if theres something out there thats compact and what you recommend for me. thanks in advance!if you can, i dont check this forum too often, could you send your recommendations to : mk7169 at hotmail dot comthanks
Members gruvjack
What's the budget? Is this for mixing tracks or live MIDI instruments? You can look at the Soundcraft M8 for starters. It's not exactly budget conscious but you did say decent mic preamps. V.
Members 6ftabovsealevel
That Soundcraft looks like a pretty cool mixer. I don't really have much experience with studio mixers, do most of them have pre-fader listen? I had been under the impression that the cue is usually master mix only, but the last couple I looked at seem to let you monitor each channel like a dj mixer. But yeah, hard to make a good recommendation without knowing your budget or what your application or sources are. More info please...

More info please... All should have a master AFL. Most do have channel PFL. I've watched guys do live MIDI PA. It's really different from the 2 decks and a mixer concept and the audience eats it up!
