What I didn't hear was that killer hook that just put a song over the top. "The Rains Came Down" was soooooooooooo close. Of course if writing that hook was easy wewould all do it. Love your voice! I agree most of my stuff is lacking in a hook, and often I admit I'm a little too lazy to really look for it / too impatient to wait for one to come to me. The stuff that I feel DOES have more of a hook has tended to just drop in my lap without effort. Karen Carpenter. Yes. Toni Tenille? Not familiar with her. The Rains Came Down is not finished, darn it! The last third of that song needs fixing. I just have to get around to it finally! Thanks man! What I think is happening with the hook or lack thereof (and I mean a commercial hit pop song type of hook) is that your chord progressions are just different. I'll be listening and I hear the change coming and I think here it comes its going to do this formulaic sort of thing and then it doesn't. Which makes me smile, and it makes you who you are. Maybe a really commercially appealing hook can't work that way, but I really think you got a killer song in you and just haven't quite figured it out.
