Singing for the Stars (Seth Riggs) Help needed!

Hi! Recently, I was browsing through the forums and saw that some member had the book, but he had lost the CD. I happen to have the exact opposite problem. I've recently gotten interested in singing and heard this was a great home study tool to use. I managed to find the CD tracks uploaded onto youtube, and I am practicing them. Unfortunately, I think there is some information in the book (or the uploaded files are missing some information?) that I don't have. I can't be sure because I don't have the book, but I'm pretty sure there are some alternate vowels that should be used in some of the exercises? For example, we first do "ah", and then maybe we're supposed to use the vowel "oh" on the same exercise. He hints at this but never says exactly what the alternate vowels are. Also, for the first few exercises where we are tongue/lip trilling, are we supposed to do both for each exercise or just the one that he specifies? I only ask because I find it odd that he explains lip trilling in the first exercise, even though we don't use it until the third exercise (where he explains it more concisely).

Finally, if anyone has any tips/suggestions for me to get me off to a better start, it would be much appreciated! I am absolutely a complete beginner with little musical talent, so this is a little tough :p Unfortunately, as much as it would help, I just cannot afford private lessons (I could not even afford that Singing Success Program). I have very recently ordered Anne Peckham's book and Jaime Vender'a "Raise Your Voice" book from amazon at the recommendation of a friend. I have heard that they are both good, but is there anything I should pay particular attention to while using these books/programs?

Thank you in advance! ^^

Why don't you buy the book?

You can get it from Amazon.com.

I use the workout from Anne Peckham's book (The Contemporary Singer) 6 days a week. I've been doing it for a year and it completely changed my voice. My voice is still improving. If you can't do anything else, at least do the workout. It'll strengthen your voice.

But you'll still need a lot more than that. Eventually, I'll recommend you get voice lessons. There's no way to replace the live feedback that your teacher can offer. They can listen to your voice, figure out what's wrong, and guide you in the right direction.

Do you live anywhere near New York City? I know of a donation-based group vocal class (http://www.meetup.com/VocalForumNYC/). You pay whatever you can. The money from all the students more than pays for renting the studio that teacher uses for class.

Btw, Seth Riggs was Michael Jackson's vocal coach. You can hear him training MJ before one of his shows in this thread:
