Does anyone here gig/record with a TC Helicon voicelive product?

I'm the lead singer for a band that gigs around 2-3 times a month. I just recently bought the TC Helicon VoiceLive Play to give myself more control over my effects and harmonies. I've only used it for 1 gig so far and I wasn't so impressed. I had a real hard time "dialing it in" and making it sound natural. I know that this thing can really get the job done, because I've seen other bands that use the VoiceLive 2 and it sounds great. Does anyone have any suggestions on presets or their own programmed settings that have worked well for them? Or just any tips in general on dialing this thing in?

The room sense mic enables you (supposedly) to create harmony without running a guitar or keyboard through the box--it picks up the sound of the band and determines the proper key.

Do you have autotune on? I too gig with the Harmony-G, and while I do occasionally hear some digital residue, the sound is usually very good.

I can't comment specifically on the product you are using but I will say I dont think I have had a pedal yet (I have used 4 so far) that I was happy with the presets for.

Do some reading up on effects theory (what each does) and then play around with the unit.

For live work I've found it very important to feed your stage monitor with a mix of your dry vocal (loudest) and the Harmonizer output (about 4 - 6 dB down from the dry vocal). Otherwise it can be very difficult to stay on pitch; similar to trying to talk when you hear an echo version of what you're saying.
