Moderators davie Posted July 6, 2011 Moderators Share Posted July 6, 2011 Welcome back to the internets. I'm not sure, but if its something that is affecting your entire body, then I'd say get some rest and try to recover. If you want to be sure then go ask a ENT (ear-nose-throat) doctor about whether or not the tonsils will affect your singing and further recommendations. Members grace_slick
I don't think tonsils affect your voice that much...if they're swollen / inflamed though, it's probably not the BEST idea to sing and push yourself and your body / throat area in that way... Members grace_slick
Speaking and singing don't use the tonsils much I think...they're not your larynx...you know? They're all part of the same throat structure, but tonsils are sort of fairly superfluous to the throat and the only way they'd affect the voice is if they're so swollen they change the amount of resonant space in your throat...so they'd change the tone of your voice, and if your throat hurts in general, they'd make you feel hesitant about using your voice too much. I'd go back to the doc and see what they say about how to fix them if they're still swollen and inflamed.
