Does it sound good ?

To work on:

Articulation, spots of pronounced nasality (possibly on 'a' vowels?) and pronounciation (make sure you know the lyrics, and don't imitate Jon Bon Jovi's singing style!).

You've got a good sense of pitch. Do you know how to sing with vibrato?

Tone is pretty good but I agree articulation needs some work.

The way you pronounce some words are probably due to your regional accent, which may sound unique to some people, but may sound weird to others. But since you're singing in English then you should probably try to get the pronunciation more accurate.

Here are some issues in your recording that I noticed:

-At the beginning of your verses. You're replacing your 'th' with 'd', like 'dis' instead of 'this'

-The words with 'R' seem to "splatter", such as the words 'crowd' and 'never'

-The 'it' in the line "did it my way" is enunciated too much, you should remove the 't' sound on that part.

-Words like 'live' like in "live forever" need to be pronounced more like 'L-uh' instead of 'L-ee'

-The same applies for "stood their ground" , instead of 'st-u', it needs to be more 'st-uh'

I hope this helps

I really like the "rock" vibe to your voice. You definitely have the raw material. I would suggest working on your range and - echoing Masklin and Davie (who is spot on, as usual) - the endings and phrasing on some of your words and some vowel sounds.

The one I noticed that Davie did not point out was "back down" sounded more like "beck down".

It's pretty good. I agree with another post, very nasally in some spots.

I'm actually going to say something that hasn't been said yet, I don't think it was the best song choice for you. I think your voice would be better suited for a song like Heartbreaker by Pat Benatar. I'd really like to hear more of your upper range. Also Alone by Heart would be a good one as well.

Hmm, not so sure about that. I thought this was a good pick for her, it sounds right in her comfort zone. In fact many girls struggle for power and volume in the lower ranges, but I think she sounds pretty damn good in that respect. Conversely, I heard nothing that indicates she has the range for Benatar or Heart.

I could be wrong - it could just be enunciation issues - but the way some of the vowels on the ends of lines are "closed off" (for lack of a better way of describing it) makes me think she probably has a limited range. Or possibly she is just afraid to go for them (?)

I personally would like to hear maybe Joan Jett or Melissa Etheridge but how about it OP? Can we hear you try something a little higher...?

Exactly, I was trying to give her some higher choices. I didn't feel much range from that song, but I can gather bits that maybe she does have more of a range than she is showing. And maybe because it was in her comfort zone is why I found it good but not "Amazing" you know. Which is why I want to challenge her to break boundaries because you never know what you will find, and I believe that she can do that.

Nice! :thu: Your voice has a nice rock edge to it. I agree about the key being a little too low, but since you're using a backing track (which is I presume in the original key) that's not surprising. I don't think that Benatar is necessarily a better choice, but her work is more likely to be in a friendly key. If you play the guitar (or know someone who does) you might want to try an acoustic version the Bon Jovi in a higher key.

I agree with Masklin about vibrato--the final syllables of the lines of this song at times are slightly flabby, and some vibrato would tighten them up. But again the low key might make it difficult to get much vibrato going.

And of course it's nice to see Jersey get some props--though (IMHO) it's the wrong guy....:p

Wow. Singergirl246 has been on a roll lately with all the comments :p

It's good to see more people coming out to contribute.

And I agree with this comment. She needs to stretch her boundaries and get out of her comfort zone. She's singing too much in her lower register, which won't allow the upper register to develop. My teacher says its good to practice songs that sing around the upper break to help the voice develop.

If you're really set on this song, then may be transpose it up a few keys. Maybe transpose it up by a major fifth or so.

Hi everyone!

I'm a moroccan novice singer, working with a rock band, and I'd like to improve my voice, so please need your comments and advices
:)

Here is a

Voice : Illusory Queen

Intruments and Mixing : Wassim Berrouho

Thank you

Wow, we've got a rocker chick amongst us!!!

My only critique is watch the vibrato.

It happens to all of us but on some harder switches and changes it tends to go faster to compensate.

Other than that I'd like to hear more dynamics between singing loud and hard, and soft!

Nice job!!!

This...If you add range to your voice you will sound better, don't be afraid to belt out some air and let the notes come out. I think that as you get more used to the song you will do it naturaly and want the higher key in the song.

Very nice!

Rod
