Members smallins
Hi - I am a hobbyist enjoying putting songs together with Mixcraft in my bedroom, recording covers and starting to compose my own stuff. The trouble is, although I can mostly hit the right note (if the tune is not too complex), I really don't like the sound of my voice. Some people are blessed with great sounding voices, but mine is reedy and thin, and although I try to follow the basic singing principles (breathe from diaphragm, stand up etc), I still don't like it and can't believe any amount of technique is going to change that (but you tell me...) What are my options? I have tried tweaking the tone of my voice with VST plugins like Rovee but it's not very satisfactory. Is there any magical plugin that might help? Find a singer? Easier said than done when you're miles from anywhere... Thanks folks.

Members rodclement
Singing is the only instrument that you can alter tone, range, delivery, skill, aptitute, at will! By that I mean, you can get better with proper practice, if you put in the work you will get better, period. There is no magic VST plug in that will fix bad technique, follow Static's advice and look into some lessons. With a qualified teacher you will get better quick and will be amazed at the results. Members rockinrobby
Singing is mental, not physical. It's not that your voice sounds thin? And while the principals you outlined are important? There is something much much more important... Singing is 90% mental. It's in your head, it's not in your throat, and it's not in your gut, it's in your head? When they raise elephants, they put big strong chains around a foot of a baby elephant. It pulls hard, it can't get away... When they're adults? They use ropes? The elephant could easily break the rope? But it does not try... Because it has been conditioned to believe "mentally" that it cannot... Singing is the same thing. It's in your head? You have singers that you would like to emulate? Sure you do? So get your favorite, put your favorite song on by them? And sing with it! Sing it loud! No one else is around? No one is there to judge? Not even you... You're just "singing." And you're doing it "loud..." And you do this? You do this over time... You'll notice, you're a better singer than you thought you were? I'm telling you it's up here? (points at noggin...) If you have even "basic" skills physically? You can sound AWESOME! You just have to believe you can break the rope? You're an elephant? What rope is going to hold you?
