Members DukeOfBoom
Here are a couple more clips of pieces I've been working on this tonight and the last couple of days. I wrote the music and the lyrics of these badboys myself. As usual, they're all pretty good until I open my mouth to sing. You can tell that there's a good song trying to get out but my vox suck. I do know I can sing because I've convinced myself that if Jessica Simpson (IQ=70), Johnny Rotten and others can do it, I can do it as well. So, if anyone can tell me why my vox suck that would be much appreciated. Hold Me Closer (960kb) Your Secret Agent Girl-Friends (880kb)
Moderators davie Posted August 28, 2010 Moderators Share Posted August 28, 2010 I dunno why, but when I first heard the drums at the beginning of 'Hold Me Closer' I was expecting Oasis' 'Live Forever' for some reason. lol But anyway, I do hear good songs 'trying to get out'. I'll be straight and give you my critique on vox. Your vocals seem somewhat tense and nasal. It sounds like your pushing too much air through your nose or something like that. Sounds kinda like Weird Al. lol. Also I think you can sound better if you use more emotion on your vocals. From the recording aspect, maybe you can lower your gain slightly, it sounds like its clipping on a few parts. And maybe add some slight reverb or delay, it sounds kinda dry. Moderators davie Posted August 29, 2010 Moderators Share Posted August 29, 2010 np. btw, i just had another listen. when you're singing, are you squeezing/tensing up your throat or something? or spreading your lips wide from side-to-side? like the way people try to get u to smile and say 'cheese'
