Members SaphiraSora
Hey, I'm new here and I'm quite the amateur at singing. Let's see, the only experience I have had was choir for 4 years in high school and I guess I would classify my voice as soprano though this is not confirmed. I am 19 years old.Now here is my question. Why does my voice randomly squeak when I am singing in mid range sometimes? Okay, its allergy season and my voice isn't the best now anyway but somehow I know that isn't a main factor in what is causing this. I will be singing notes in MY personal mid-range (the easiest notes in the world to sing) and then suddenly it will skip and cut out completely with a squeak as if I'm being choked. There is no pain though but it does get annoying. I would list more traits about my voice but I have a few links: http://www.youtube.com/user/ChaoBreeder051491#p/a/u/0/nNuAkf1q-PY http://www.youtube.com/user/ChaoBreeder051491#p/u/13/L6qeJuzR2Pk Any feedback will be appreciated =) Thanks guys

Members YeahDoIt
I have a similar problem and it helps when I sip water in between songs. Maybe your throat is drying out.
Members SaphiraSora
I have a similar problem and it helps when I sip water in between songs. Maybe your throat is drying out. it does help to drink water but I noticed that the squeaking is a new thing to me and it gets progressively worse as the summer goes on. From the abundance of people having this same problem, I'm starting to feel a bit better. Thank you!
Moderators davie Posted July 2, 2010 Moderators Share Posted July 2, 2010 do you have pain when this happens? does it feel uncomfortable? if this is a major concern for you then i suggest getting a referral to see a throat doctor and make sure there's nothing wrong. Members beach1
Maybe you're singing with a high larynx?
Members YeahDoIt
I have lots of singing problems in the summer, probably related to the heat. It's just too hot to sing more than a song or two. I notice in the fall when it cools down to maybe 80 degrees F suddenly my voice works better.
Members rpc66
Since you are finding it happening in your mid range, I am wondering if it has something to do with your passaggio points. Is it happening at around the same pitch? I know that when I am tired, not feeling quite just right or strained my voice a little, it will definitely show up in my upper passaggio point during my warm-ups and singing as a random crack or squeak. Just a thought...

Just a thought... That would be my guess. My voice hasn't been in the best shape lately. And I do find that when I am singing a certain song, the squeak will occur on that very same note. I think maybe you're right =) It has only been happening since Spring (May). That or someone suggested that my voice may be maturing (I am 19 years old)Thanks
Members Azami
there could be many factors playing in together at the same time. But a few things to check is that you are properly warmed up through the whole range, hydrated, consistent airflow ( as to much or too little can cause squeaks, cracks etc) Granted your good to go on all those then you can focus on possible damage or irritation in the throat etc.
Members CR00NER
It may be that you just can't hit the range, or your throat is dry. I drink a water, honey, lemon, concoction.... that works for me.
