Members nflea7
I'm a professional singer of 10 years, I've been singing my whole life, I got serious 10 years ago and started taking lessons. I currently have a good gig in a modern rock (Nickelback, Shinedown, U2 etc) cover band, and acoustic duo cover band. The main 5 piece cover band we typically do 3 hours a night of high energy music. Before that I was the lead vocals for a signed original band. I thought this might be a good forum to post this in. So I've come up with some things I do to perform as close to peak the full 3 hour night but it can be tough. I move around a lot, run all over what ever stage we are on, so a show can get physical. Plus I have a huge 80's style drummer and 2 half stacks on either side, we have a small touring rig for shows. Ok so I have a TC Helicon tone correct I use as my main signal effect to the mixer. I use a Mackie 450 powered monitor just for my vocal as a center monitor. The tone correct helps, it has a great pre amp built in compression and eq that helps my vocal sit above the mix. I also use a Line 6 wireless, that for the price I think is the best you can buy. Great wireless mic. Towards the middle of the night I kick on the pitch correct to help get my vocal in tune as fatigue starts to become an issue. It also gives a bit more of an authentic sound as I know a lot of hard rock touring acts use similar effects. Not to leave out the basics, proper breath control, staying in shape, plenty of cardio warm-up, etc before shows. Eating right is key too. I've done shows where I drink beer the whole set, and ones I don't. So what do you do/use to help make it through the gig?

Members Ditched
... so using pitch correction makes the voice more authentic? :s
Members nflea7
Yes big arena kit. More authentic in the sense that Nickelback and Shinedown use it live along with a ton of other effects. We try to bring a concert experience to the clubs we play. The TC Helicon pitch correction is transparent sounding. Unless you are more than a semitone off the pitch you can hardly notice it. The crowd doesn't notice it at all. If you are a bit more off it sounds more like a doubling effect. Its not auto tune which makes you sound like T-Pain
