Uh...yeah.

I've done I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself...

*cough* It sucks. I did it as an example of both my mental block and my vocal issues since coming back from Christmas.

I feel I've "lost it"...whatever it was that I had in the first place...

And so much do I feel this sucks that I'm only putting it on here as a blatant illustration, and also, I ended up going weird in the 2nd verse and singing an octave higher than it's meant to be, simply because...quite frankly, I feel I've gone a bit insane. I know it sounds horrible but I got bored of sounding crap anyway.

There. Hurl at me your criticism. I can take it and I want it.

 at the "insane" part. You're in a mood, aren't you? :o

But this clip only makes me REALLY want to hear you sing "To Sir, With Love". :rawk:

Oops. Never mind. Found it! :thu:

Ooo...

Hey!!! Where's the rest? That was really good!

Let me put it this way ... when you sing stuff like "To Sir, With Love", I would pay good money to hear/see that. :rawk:

Wowwwwww! well, the first part sounded great to me. And the part where you went an octave up.... Jesus! I had no idea that was possible! it definitely got out of control at times, but you still deserve a medal for being able to make noises that are that high pitched. Could you control your voice perfectly that high up before you got into this "funk"...?

And by the way, i listed to the Cookie Monster track and was waaay weirded out by it. haha. but when you fell back into your regular speaking voice, i wanted to melt. Maybe it's because no one in Tennessee speaks so perfectly, but I want you to read a bedtime story. Maybe Goodnight Moon. perhaps with some musical accompaniment to set the mood? could be pretty cool...

And I am extremely sorry if that last paragraph sounded weird... I just think it'd be kind of cool to hear. :)

LMAO! Oh my god.

Eightstring, god yes, I am in a total mood. I fear for my partner when she gets home. Often when I get like this I don't know quite how I'll react to actual human contact and may bite her head off when she gets in the door for no reason. lol

To Sir With Love...yeah...I love that song. I will do the full version soon. I forgot the one on there wasn't the full one actually. I originally did a version way back, but it sounded odd cause I put too much effect on it to hide whatever flaws I thought I heard when I recorded it.

Ah, Bradley...LOL. So my cookie voice freaked you out, eh!? Why is that, my freaky friend? How about the Krusty the Clown track? That's pretty freaky, especially with the strange old man at the end. lol.

My speaking voice...you LIKE my speaking voice? HMM. Me thinks you need some ear cleaner, sir!! lol.

Maybe I should throw in the musical towel and take up being a voiceover person for sleepy children's books, eh?

Oh, and uh, the ultra high crazy part in the Dusty Springfield song...um...I don't know if I could control that "perfectly" before my vocal funk...probably not. Not in that type of singing anyway. It was screech-singing. I could control it much more in a more pseudo-classical or musical theatre type way though.

Both of those tracks just really threw me for a loop, i guess. haha

I'm pretty sure I love your speaking voice, and I would never discourage your musical efforts in any way (because I love them). But I would love to hear the sleepytime children's books as well, just as their own separate pursuit of course. hahaha

LOL

I can picture you coming on here, finding that I've done this sleepy time book recording just for you, and then downloading it and settling in for the night...LMAO.

Lily Allen's ok...sort of. For what she is. Meh. I like her hair. Sometimes.

Meh. I think I need to be dulled. I am off in search of a substance.

Oh, here we go again! Grace, if I had 1/8 of your vocal ability I'd be ripping up New Jersey 4-5 times a week and planning my world tour!

I agree with Eightstring about To Sir With Love. You've really got the 60s girl-groove down on this one. How about Do You Know the Way to San Jose and Downtown?

I also thought that you pulled off the high-pitch, Kate-Bushy sound remarkably well. It didn't reach the quality of the lower octave, but it was pretty damn good and with a little work it would be a very usable--and impressive--vocal sound for you.

Btw, can I have your old avatar back? Your posts used to make me swoon....now, well, not so much.

LMAO@Jersey! The one just before this weird umbrella hat man you mean? Ok. Will do when I get home from work.

I was in a strange mood last night so put on that weird man.

I do like the 60s vibe…I’d like one of my songs (self-created ones I mean) to have that feel whenever I get around to it…I also like the other 60s vibe, the more Woodstock type vibe. Totally different, but both excellent vibes.

To be honest, I wasn’t really trying with that high octave switch. I only did it once, didn’t really care, knew it sounded shrill and out of control, but as I said, I was in a strange state so put it there. Lol.

Backing tracks sound distant, eh? lol. They’re just Youtube karaoke tracks…I didn’t do ‘em! Lol. And I don’t put my voice as well into the mix as I would were I actually creating my own song because the point of posting them here is to hear the voice clearly set apart from the rest of the music.

Thank you!

Honestly, Mich, that extra high stuff sounds more than usable in a musical context. It sounds no worse than a man singing in a high falsetto, anyway.

I swear to god, though, Grace. You need to make an original song and move things along instead of floating around going crazy in this artistic, music world purgatory. Progress must be made before you question yourself, because you haven't even done anything to attract anyone's attention.

I mean, sure, these recordings are great, but the only way you'll prove to yourself that what all of us are unanimously saying is true, you'll have to actually make some full, complete, coherent songs on your own, but take some time to make them solid, or find people to work with, or just get out there, find a local venue that suits your style and works with musical talents.

SOME form of progress needs to take place.

Wow. I don't check out many clips here, so I'd kinda forgotten what your voice was like. Ok, I laughed a bit when you went nuts in the higher octave. But before that....

I'm putting a reminder in my phone so that when I get home I'll remember to check out your other clips. :o

{censored}... I just realised our IT guy deleted all the contacts off my phone.

As I just discovered after some poking around, he actually had to go out of his way to select an option to delete all my phone contacts. Bastard.

But yeah, you definitely have a great voice. If I could write a damn song I'd be trying to get you to put your voice on it. :thu:

(Alas, I couldn't write a song to save my life)
