Members grace_slick
I’m 90% sure I’m not the only weirdo who’s like this, but when you record a vocal track, how the hell do you ever settle on it? Like, for every single thing I record, I listen to it and think it’s ok so I leave it. But then I come back to it and I ALWAYS think I can do much better if I had another try. If I like the song enough to bother, I always have the urge to do it again and again until it’s acceptable to me. What if it NEVER IS!?
Members AluminumNeck
No one will ever be perfect. Move on. That doesn't mean don't try your best. People always know when they are half assing something.
Members ChrisAlgoo
I just began recording, and I'm very fond of "Good Enough" when perfection isn't forthcoming. Most listeners won't notice, besides! Recording is so much harder than live, jeez :-)
Members Dthraco
It never is perfect when you come back to it. And you will always think you can sing it better now. Pretty normal I think. What I do it to do the best I possibly can for that recording session. And then, after it's recorded and I know I did the best I could, it serves as a snapshot for that place in time. For that level I was at vocally. I have a difficult time listening to the three CD's I've recorded where I was the lead singer. Because I hear where I could do better and it does make me want to re-record. But I won't. Those were snapshots in time, snapshots of my ability at the time. New songs is where it's at. Members ido1957
Although a good take is our aim, many performers do vocal comps to piece together a great final product. Even volume fluctuations need to be fixed...

THIS is why I don't have many new vocal recordings!I keep one-upping myself all the time.
Members grace_slick
lol. I'm a combination perfectionist and lazy person so I do end up giving up and just posting the clip anyway, and then ignoring its existence for a week before listening again, cringing the whole time...lol
