Members Stabby
I just enrolled for music class and today I had my first class of group singing. It was the first time I really had to sing and apparantly I have a pretty good bass voice which I never realised. My teacher was quite impressed. I even had to switch to tenor because I went too low I didn't have the chance to ask him about it since I started thinking about it after class. It was actually quite fun and I may want to switch from piano to singing. I've been playing piano for a while on my own and I'm not at all a classical player, which I'll have to play the first 4 years. I am only planning to do the first 3 years though. The reason I'm taking music class is I want to be well prepared for taking music as the 3rd subject in my teacher's education (to teach music in highschool). Should I consider the switch? It could be wonderful to discover something new and I might complete my music education (12 years) if I'm able to train my bass voice well. Members Dthraco
Why not do both? I played guitar for 16 years before learning to sing. I LOVE singing, but I have not stopped playing guitar, as they do go together. Lots of musicians who can play piano and sing.
Members Stabby
Because I can't pick both. I will continue to play piano on my own with a private teacher of course.

Members LordBTY
If you have a TRUE bass voice, then you're a rarity in singing and you should go for it. Barry White's a true bass. Most men are baritones, but if you're a bass, you could really make people... wow I love a good bass voice So warm and rich |)
Members Stabby
Thanks. I posted an audio clip. Just wondering if that could become a true bass with lots of practice.

If you'd like an in depth assessment sing a verse, or hook. Singing Do Rei Mi doesn't exemplify what you can do. However it sounds like your bass range is fantastic. Definitely a rarity to be able to go that low. You can sing ANY song, bud. Just transpose the sucker to fit your range.
Members Stabby
Thanks mate I've attached the song we had to sing during our first class yesterday. My voice sounds quite horrible to me. My range however does seem fantastic. One of the notes is the B below the low C. I'm not so good at that yet. Keep in mind I've never really sung before yesterday. I just discovered my bass range. I suppose my voice can still be much improved with extensive training and learning the right breathing methods and such? Also, quit smoking
Members LordBTY
Thanks. I posted an audio clip. Just wondering if that could become a true bass with lots of practice. No. No amount of practice can make someone a true bass. People have different voice types, for a male it is Bass - LowestBaritone - Most men are baritonesTenor - Highest of the normal male voicesCastrato - More common in the olden days, when men were castrated before puberty.Treble - A boy By the sounds of it, you have a low voice. It's hard to say, but you could always be a bass-baritone. Also, you're quite young, so it's hard to say.
