Members grace_slick
Me again, just cause I love this song and felt like singing it. lol I had to put it in my soundclick page, cause the box.net stupid website isn't working at all. Wade through the weird titles to "Dusty" if you wish to hear it. Otherwise, please feel free to listen to any of my other songs if you wish. lol www.soundclick.com/auntacid

Members Dthraco
Had a chance to listen. Your voice does sound very beautiful. Kinda reminds me of a singer my mom used to listen to whan I was a kid (can't remember the name), but sweeter.
Members JohnBenussi
How ironic, you sang about me! Ahhh... On a serious note, I can't get enough of your voice/singing.It is lovely! What audio interface are you using?

Members ido1957
Your vibrato is so good - that's what I'm trying to work on. I've come to the conclusion that it's not something you learn as much as something you just have...and you have it magnificently. I agree with the previous posters you have a great "classic" female voice. Really enjoyed this one...
Members Raskolnikovs axe
some people have it, some don't, but the idea that you can't learn it is totally false! but yeah, grace has a great voice
Members grace_slick
Oh wow, thanks so much, lovely people! Idol, yeah, my vibrato is something I really do find very easy. Not too much else is that easy for me these days in terms of singing, but yeah...it does seem to come naturally as well. I've actually been trying to tone down my inclination to over-do the vibrato though, to make it too wide or slow. Mmm.
Members Williamz
I don't know how to explain what I think...your voice is like perfect but on the other hand not because I'm about to complain. Weird huh? lol Anyway, I find it strange that you can sing so well in every way, pitch wise, tone wise, emotion wise etc. yet lack that excitement(ie. more projection). How can a singer this good lack that ability? It really baffles me. lol It's the only thing that is in the way of a perfect listening pleasure. I think it was you who posted a thread about how it feels better to sing while yawning. I think it's because the way the air fills your body with yawn is very natural, and it prepares your body like a good breathing technique should. So I think you don't prepare your body well enough with breath to sing with good projection. So my suggestion is to try achieve a bit like yawn like body preparation with breathing. I think you don't have a very good support because you said you sound bad when trying to sing louder and even though I haven't heard it, it's probably because you sing with your throat too much. That is my experience, I used to sing like a mouse(much much quieter than you now lol) and only like that I could pitch well and had a pleasant tone. Pitch and tone and pretty much everything went to hell when trying to sing louder. But when achiving a sort of sturdy feel in your body with breath, I can sing with more projection and maintain good pitch and tone. I'm talking a bit out of my butt...LOL
Members grace_slick
No no, I totally get what you're saying and agree with it completely. This is the thing I'm seeking, and why I keep putting myself down (sort of) in my posts around here. I know I'm good in some ways...pitch I'd say is mostly there (it may just be me being hyper self-critical who hears the occasional off pitch note), tone is...fair/ok. Emotion I don't know about since I've been so fixated on the technical stuff I've not made a lot of time to focus on it. Vibrato and certain mild gymnastic-type things are ok...but the projection and RESONANCE I think is the thing I'm lacking and oh my GOD it pisses me off. Sorry if that word's not allowed! lol. And yes, you're right, I DON'T prepare myself for singing. This is a different thing I guess, but I've never ever in my life warmed up. I wouldn't even know how besides scales, and that just feels a bit pointless to me. The only "warm ups" I ever did were singing some high songs before I wanted to sing a particularly high song, for example. But yeah...and with the breathing, I don't know what I'm doing. I used to think I was good at that. Breathing. I can hold my breath for ages, hold a note for ages, scream deafeningly loud and hold it forever, and while other people have to take breaths in the middle of certain sung sentences, I don't...but now I'm thinking no, I'm NOT good at this part and it's like, sure I can do all those things BUT it's only because everyone else is singing (in terms of projection and resonance, not talent as such) on a 7 out of 10 and I'm on a 3 out of 10, you know what I'm saying? Also, I've always done things like, when just singing along to CDs at home and stuff, I'll be drinking or eating or talking or doing something a split second before the bit I'm singing along with comes in and I'll immediately sing, and I used to think that was kind of cool that I could do that with no preparation/no warning, nothing...but now, I think it's cause I don't prepare myself anyway. No air. No stability. No projection. Yep.
Members Williamz
Lol I think I have mentioned the projection stuff to you a lot of times already but it's because I hear that voice and I really like it(I don't really like a lot of voices lolol) and I wanna hear it reach it full potential! You definitely have emotion, the thing is for me that you don't sound like you attempt to add emotion, it just is there authentically. I've sung a handful of samples like this in front of my partner, and that only happened in the past 6 months...we've been together 9 years! My best friend has never heard me sing. My parents last heard me sing when I was about 4 years old. That's it. lol No WAY am I good enough to perform for actual PEOPLE! Thank you thought, for your words. They do mean a lot. Wrong. I guarantee your singer friend (if she heard you sing) would tell you, you couldn't sing out of jealousy... You have to remember there are people on this Earth that want nothing more than to make someone else feel bad. Some people live for that... Back on topic, YOU should seriously sing in front of others.I'm 30 too (ha) and I feel I'm too old to be *discovered* but I keep trying.
